Is body armor good to weapon gem or should it be on the weapon?

I have a body armor with 6 linked Green sockets. unfortunately i don´t have as good a Bow.

Will I get the same out of having my Split arrow or gem on the body armor?

Gem:
Split Arrow
Faster Attacks
Chain
Physical Projectile Attack Damage
Pierce Support
The last one i don´t know yet

Is it safe to try to change to 5 green and one red sockets whit Artisan´s Bench or can it result in i
spoiled everything with ending up with something else.

It doesn't matter where the gems are, unless the item offers some kind of bonuses to socketed gems.

Changing colors usually isn't a problem, unless the item has a bias against colors you need. If you got a DEX, DEX/INT or DEX/STR chest it isn't too hard changing it from 6G to 1R5G and back, if it's a STR, INT or STR/INT chest you don't want to tamper with those 6G because it's extremely hard to get that configuration again.
