Does Kintsugi reduce Damage over Time?

Hi, simple question, does Kintsugi reduce DoT? I thought it did, but thinking about it now, wouldn't the "20% less damage taken unless you've been hit recently" count as a conditional effect, which would need to be checked on hit (thus not applying to a dot)? Has someone tested it with numbers?

Ok thanks!

Yes, which is why many swear by Kintsugi for lab runs (constant 20% DR against spinning poles, sawblades, blade sentries, and floor-is-lava)

EDIT: The conditionality (demanding a Hit) is only for removing the DR, which is precisely why K is so good against non-derived DoTs

(derived DoTs here means poison, bleeding, ignite)

Spot-on.

Kintsugi's damage reduction is global while it's active - it applies against everything. Labyrinth traps, damaging ground, any other DoT effect like Daresso's sword clouds. It applies against the first hit every four seconds as well, since the hit that removes Kintsugi's DR buff is measured against your pre-existing defenses and the buff is only removed afterwards.

Also means Kintsugi's damage reduction applies against, but is not removed by, reflected damage, which is another big reason why it's so awesome.

Yeah, my confusion was just that things like "x% increased damage against burning enemies" and the Projectile Weakness curse don't increase damage over time (except maybe caustic arrow), because a hit is required to check whether the condition applies, so I wasn't sure if Kintsugi wouldn't decrease DoT for the same reason. I was giving advice to a HC player and wanted to be sure, thanks :)

Right, it might look similar but it isn't. Those mods apply damage buff to attacker if the target has a required condition and DoTs can't check for it. Kintsugi applies a buff to the target, which is something DoTs can check for.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
