My Issue with POETrade

My work computer blocks it - because it is a website based in russia. The reason that russian wesites are blocked is because of the amount of malware and cybercrimes associated with russian sites.

Today while perusing poetrade on my personal computer, it kicked me out to one of those "hi-jack" sites that tries to phish for personal information by telling you that your computer has detected malware and that you must call a (877) phone number to get your computer fixed.

GGG's tacit support and approval of poetrade without any of GGG's quality control means that this site could potentially compromise a lot of GGG's customers. This may not be because the guy running poetrade is consciously trying to distribute malware, it is because russian ISPs, webhosting, etc is notoriously shady.

What the hell are you doing looking at poe.trade while you're at work?
You won't be able to actually do any trading unless you're in-game.

And if you're playing games at work and are still employed there, where do you work at and are they hiring?

It's not the site itself but one of the ads. Ad blockers are your friend.

Never happened to me .
quick way to clear this up....

hacks coming from russia is a myth http://map.norsecorp.com/#/ i say that as general statement, yes their are hacks from russia just likes theres hacks from anywhere there is a device connected to the internet

use an ad blocker as previously suggested if this solves ur issue then ignore the rest of this.

if not

disable all ur browser extnsions and addons, run task manager (as admin if needed)

my assumption is that you are browsing using chrome

in task manager with all extensions disabled, u should only see 1 Chrome.exe running under processes...if u see more then one process your chrome has been already hijacked, even worse if that machine has been shutdown or had a hard reboot since its very likely to have a rootkit...

if you are using firefox, being browser jacked is the least of your companies it security problems.

Could you expand on that please?
I'm mildly concerned.
