scour-chancing a bad idea or not?

Usually Id only consider this if the right base drops linked but recently I started thinking about it.
I chance sorc boots if I find them while mapping and thats it. Dont think I am going to see results that way. On the other hand burning through a thousand chance and scour orbs without seeing anything would be the worst...If I really needed them. I mean these orb dont really serve any other purpose right now.
Crafting is waay to expensive anyway so scouring rarely ever makes sense besides these days I can either use chaos or essences to reroll.
Whats your experience?

Depends on the item. If you're trying to get something very expensive, it may be worth it. If you're playing self found, it may be worth it. Any other scenario - DO NOT DO IT. Chance to, well, chance even a crappy unique is quite low.

It usually isn't a good idea because extremely expensive uniques are also extremely hard to chance, you do this method if a medium rarity unique suddenly becomes valuable for some reason. A good example in this league is The Harvest, so I scooped up a bunch of chances and scours at some point, went in and got it.

Scour-chancing is used to get legacy uniques like Headhunter. You can skip the "piling up white Leather Belts in your stash" part if you're rich and in a hurry.
You can also try for scour-chance if you have a white item with nice links, like 6L Occultist's Vestments or Judgement Staff or something, would have to know exact probabilities to be sure if that's worth it. There is actually a divination card for scour-chancing, 6L white Holy Chainmail -> Voll's Protector. Less popular now with the CoC nerfs.

Been playing since closed beta and chancing items each league. Not only did I not chance Skyforth, in fact I never chanced any Unique item, even those that statistically are more likely to be chanced.

I would say save your Scours.

if u want spam more, better buy the white item, usualy 8 for 1 caos less expansie ^^

Edit : hard for boots ofc but other way is just too expensi
