Ice of herald doesn't explode
I have been trying to use Ice of herald on my flicker strike build assassin. But it seems like the ice of herald never does the explosion. I have 21% crit chance and it won't explode with my flicker strike nor default attack. Does anyone know why this doesn't work?

You have to kill frozen monsters to shatter them. You have to shatter them for Herald of Ice to explode. My guess is you are not shattering monsters.

I have been killing them for 10 minutes and they just never explode xD. I just enter a map and use herald of ice only to kill the monsters by using default attack. On Fruitmes it doesn't work, but when I do exactly the same with Fruitbak the explosions come within killing 3 monsters :S

seems your profile is private and char tab not displayed.
you maybe dont deal enough damage to freeze (which is not likely if your build is phys based), or have something like elemental focus, or monsters have status ailment immunity map mod edit: when looking at your char I miss Hatred aura so there is not enough cold damage to freeze IGN: Eric_Lindros CET: Timezone Last edited by Ludvator#6587 on Oct 7, 2016, 1:05:12 PM

Oh there is a minimum of freeze damage you have to deal before getting the explosion? Then that might be the problem hehe. |

You need to do a certain amount of cold damage on a crit before they explode.

"I guess I was too vague :). Here: My guess is you are not freezing monsters, therefore you are not shattering monsters, therefore Herald of Ice is never exploding. You surely aren't freezing monsters with default attack and only Herald of Ice for cold damage. Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN>

" I usually don't like calculations for my own characters, too time-consuming In order to pass the Minimum Duration Test, you must Freeze enemy for at least 300 ms duration. The formula for base duration is 60 ms per 1% of maximum Life of the enemy dealt as Cold Damage. So, this implies that with no freeze duration increases, you must deal 5% of an enemy's Maximum Life in a single Cold (default) Damage Hit in order to Freeze that enemy. This is equivalent to removing 1 out of 20 of the enemy's life bar as Cold Damage. thus if you can deal a significant chunk of an enemy's life bar as Cold Damage you should be able to freeze them fine. This is also why it is quite difficult to Freeze bosses unless you spec heavily into it. Need game info? In the absence of any freeze duration modifiers, you need to deal at least 5% of the monster's total life for it to be frozen. Trash mobs in mid-tier maps seem to have a few tens of thousands of life, so a couple thousand of cold damage should be sufficient to freeze them. Bosses have substantially more life and for them you'll likely need five digits of cold damage per hit. Of course by the time the boss dies all adds will be long dead so an explosion from the boss will be wasted anyway (unless it's a multi-boss map).
