Basically:

Poor-Rich Man's Method: Take as many base items and Chances as you can into the map and focus the map on quantity, so that you maximize your chancing chances.

Rich-Rich Man's Method: Take only one base item and use all of your portals to go into the map with a proper ratio of Chances/Scourings to Chance/Scour the item repeatedly until you get the unique you desire. You may end up with a unique you don't want, and I don't think you can scour unique items.

Forgot to mention you can also use cards to get it, but it's either a random item or random league-specific item.

I've got chances and white turquoise ammy's. If you would be willing to expand on your Poor-Rich method I would appreciate it.

Does it matter what map/tier I use?

Magic? Rare? does it matter?

If I don't specify something, assume it is open. So if I don't mention map tier, map tier doesn't matter.

You take a map, any map, and put it in the map device which allows you to apply a league mod onto it. The map takes on ALL of the league's properties. Because of this, uniques that cannot drop normally (like in Standard) can drop in that map AND can be chanced from base items.

Only chances and base items are used in the "poor" method. You take as many as you can mix-match with all of your portals and chance them. You still clear the map, since the item can drop. Say you have 50 chance orbs, you would take 50 of the base item you want.

Scourings are used in the rich method. If the base item only has one possible unique outcome, you take only one base item in. If the item can yield any number of uniques, you take a few in with you and chance the item, then scour it until it is unique. If it's not the unique you want, you get a new base item and repeat the process.

As for the map, if you're really into it you can max out quantity and pack size in order to maximize your chances of getting the base item or quality/rarity and twin bosses to maximize your chances of getting the item to drop (assuming the unique matches the level). Usually a lower level map is used for just the league mod so someone can get in and chance or chance/scour. Higher tier maps will be used if someone has fewer chance/scours, and rely more on the map itself.

Keep in mind, some uniques can only be chanced within a map with the correct league mod. This means they cannot drop, but can be chanced. No examples currently come to mind.

The Taming can be carded (as in traded in from cards) or made from a recipe, from which those three rings can be chanced. So technically you could chance the Taming, but not directly. This is the hardest thing to "chance" since it requires three uniques to be chanced, and specific ones at that.

Doryani's Catalyst cannot be chanced, but can be obtained from drops or cards.

Most likely, a very large number of players obtained it before 2.4.0, and then hoarded them up to sell after 2.4.0.

If you're talking about folks getting the ammy in temporary leagues, well, that's probably just luck from certain divination cards, which ignore league restrictions.

I'm not sure which cards specifically, but in a practical sense, Vipermagi's answer is probably your best bet.

just save up 2-3ex and buy it from some1 thats the current price i guess on poetrade
