Why spell echo on minions?
Still very new to post-release, and don't understand Spell Echo very well. I see that people link that to Minions. Why is that? What exactly is echoed there?

Spells cast by the minions get echoed. You can link multistrike to melee type minions as well so they hit 3 times on melee attacks.

* some people use spell casting Spectres
* it is also being used frequently to be able to summon more raging spirits IGN: Eric_Lindros

Thanks for the quick replies. Sorry for my ignorance, was thinking zombies, and even SRS I didn't understand -- so you get 2 raging spirits if you equip an Echo instead of one? Or are their attacks considered "spells"? Sorry and thanks for help.
And so I don't keep starting stupid threads, may I ask here: 2. will equipping "less duration" on Flame Dash lower the cooldown? Or is it faster casting I want? 3. Why don't people equip "Increased Duration" on Blade Vortex? Won't that keep those things up longer so you can cast more? You use Spell Echo on minions for one of three reasons:
1. It greatly enhances your ability to produce minions and/or cuts on cost, as only one cast costs while the second is free. You get twice as much for half the cost. 2. It is used to cause spells cast by minions produced by the combination to be echoed. If you raise a spellcasting spectre, they get Spell Echo. 3. Both 1 and 2. |

" no, it has no effect on cooldowns, it would lower the duration of the burning ground and give flame dash more damage because gem slots are valuable and there is a limit on BV stacks which is now not that hard to get. people usually get some duration from the tree IGN: Eric_Lindros

Great, I see, thanks. Don't have a mana problem with minions, but I guess SRS is different. Never tried it, doesn't seem very miniony to me.
" Thank you. How can you tell how many BV stacks you have? I can't see that anywhere. I guess I have no where NEAR the max. Since you can't move and cast BV at the same time, I doubt I have more than half going. How do you do it with both duration and cast speed (which I also get from tree)? " There's a buff icon, up where all the rest of your buff icons show up, that pictures the Blade Vortex skill icon and a number. That number is your current blade count. As for maintaining stacks, BV skill duration divided by BV cast time equals the number of blades you can maintain at any one time, assuming you don't run out of mana. The default values for both (5s blade duration, 0.5s cast time), for example, means you can cast up to 10 blades before the oldest ones start falling off. The maximum BV stack count is 20 blades, so you need either 100% increased duration, 100% reduced cast time, or ideally a mix of both in order to maintain the blade stack. Note that you don't need to maintain all 20 blades to wreck most non-boss content. Keep up ~8-ish of them for most leveling content and you'll do just fine. Or just however many you can keep up. Blade Vortex deals pretty stupidiculous damage. You can stand and ramp up blade counts on big ol' bosses as required, but part of what makes Blade Vortex fun to play is the whole diving into, and through, a pack of critters whilst grinding them into salsa. " Ah right! thanks. EDIT: Why don't BV'ers invest in increased spell damage passives? I only sort of wish BV were a spell instead of an attack. It feels odd to have it work best with wands instead claws... Is there actually anything really decent to play with claws with some AoE? It just looks so nice, feels good to play an assassin, and it's great to be able to kill targets with viper strike, which is fun for me, but so slow and tedious for large packs. Have I missed the claw love post release? Underrated stats: Basic human decency, small quantum of respect, microportion of compassion Last edited by onomastikon#6270 on Sep 21, 2016, 1:26:00 PM
