Question: Commander of Darkness + Totens, double dips?
Commander of Darkness:
"Auras you Cast grant 10% increased Damage to you and Allies. Auras you Cast grant 5% increased Attack and Cast Speed to you and Allies." I know that: "You and Allies affected by your Auras have +20% to all Elemental Resistances" does not stack. So, totens are consider allies... since the aura affect the caster and the totem. Does Commander of Darkness double dips? (increasing the damage of the totem by 20% and cast speed by 10% per aura)??? Looking at the wiki, i found this: "totems are only affected by auras that affect defensive properties, (...). In order for an offensive aura to have an effect, it must affect the summoner, not the totem." This means, in case Commander of Darkness double dips, only defensive auras works for it, like: Determination, Grace, Purity of X, Dicipline and Vitality ??? And Clarity? Is it consider a defensive or offensive aura??? And an offensive aura, like Anger, it does not aplly the Add x fire damage twice, but for Commander of Darkness, a totem will be affected even the aura does nothing??? (Since an aura affect all surrounding allies, a totem is consider an allie, but the entity "totem" states that offensive effects is only aplied through the caster)??? Totems do not use their own offensive stats, they only use yours.

And for defense only their stats, so no double dipping in either case.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I test it, with Commander of Darkness, i cast 3 defesive auras with generosity and my totem should gain 15% increased cast speed, but nothing happened...
Ok... but now the wording in Commander of Darkness is wrong, if my auras buff allies and a totem is an ally, it should work... i know, totem use my offesive stats and it has its own defensive stats, but it should not restrict Commander of Darkness to apply any modifier directly to my totens. Something wrong is not right in Commander of Darkness(or for totens). Anyway, something should especify it, or someone else will make another post like this one in the future. Have a nice day :D |

" Everything works fine. - you cast a defensive aura and it affects the totem - it grants the totem 5% cast speed and 10% damage - the totem has 5% cast speed and 10% damage but those are offensive stats so it doesn't use them So, a totem will benefit from CoD only if you are affected by it. As a sidenote, it's 10% damage and 5% attack speed if affected by an aura, not per aura. " These two bonuses are actually per-Aura - Necromancer support is very powerful. Only the 20% Resists is a one-time bonus. |

" Thanks Sr. raics, that's make sence, everything is on place now...(for me at least :) It doesn't double dips, so, will not be this time that i found something to use and abuse. Commander of Darkness still strong, but not exactly for totens. Next summoner, i will take it(CoD) and focus on specters, with Unending Hunger (Soul Eater for specters), it will be insane.
