Nvidia Issue FPS drop with VSYNC enabled
|
Hi GGG bug hunters ^^
i have just switched from an ATI to an NVIDIA card on my rig and noticed some strange fps drop with Vsync enabled on a multi monitor setup. This only affects WINDOWED FULLSCREEN mode and does not happen in any other mode. I am myself a bit depending on Windowed Fullscreen as for using multiple screens. With the previous AMD/ATI card this issue did not happen! Issue: Vsync turned on, stable 60fps. If now starting for example a video on my 2nd screen while poe is running (anywhere, hideout, ingame whatever) FPS drop to 30 and game stops running smooth. Also happens sometimes on instance change. IF i DISABLE VSYNC the issue disappears. FPS rockets up to 250-350fps and Videos on the seconds screen do not at all affect the framerate anymore. It seems very odd as the rig can run the game at insane framrates on full detail, it should be no issue keeping stable 60fps using VSYNC. This could of course be down to the Nvidia drivers (21.21.13.7270 / 25.08.2016 latest nvidia drivers) Kind of sad not to be able to use vsync as it lets my gtx770 go down to around 30% power consumption. No Vsync= full blast, and it seems not really necessary rig/dxdiag ------------------ Time of this report: 9/3/2016, 03:53:06 Machine name: Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.150525-0603) System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Wonder if anyone so far has encountered the same issue. If you think this is worth following up and need more information on the problem let me know what exactly you need. As workaround you can try to enable vsync in the nivdia control panel -> 3d settings for path of exile.
I use this myself for some time, because of problems with path of exiles vsync implementation. German chat: /global 4745

oh good point i shall try that :-) could be a good fix to keep my card nice and cold and not render itself silly for no reason. abuse of vsync for greener gaming? maybe.
