Bleeding Effects on Energy Shield?
I have a level 62 Scion with chaos inoculation. She died pretty fast after killing a pack of monsters with the Corrupted Bloodline debuff. At first I thought it was a bug allowing my char to take chaos damage but it's actually a bleeding effect.
Okay so my char can still bleed but it still seems odd that she's bleeding from her energy shield. Because it's energy, you know, it has no blood or blood vessels in it. Would it make more sense for bleeding to only damage life and only apply when energy shield is zero? Last edited by TheNightFly#5386 on Aug 3, 2016, 4:51:03 AM Last bumped on Aug 5, 2016, 3:10:53 PM

It would make more sense , but it's a mechanic not a literal affliction. Bleeding also has multiple meanings. It could just mean the siphoning of something. Like bleeding the pressure from a tire.

Bleeding is just a name for "physical DoT", energy shield don't make you immune to physical damage.

Yeah, we don't really have anything similar to Energy Shield in real life, if it makes you feel any better, you can imagine someone gashes you with a deep wound, and the layer of blue mystical energy covering the rest of your body rushes into that wound to try to stop the bleeding, which just causes the energy to continue being sucked in, sort of like water swirling down the drain.

Technically no, something like Energy Shield cannot "bleed". At least not in the sense of a wound and blood.
However, it is reasonable for 999,999,999 ES to be rendered completely useless by any form of EMP. But this game isn't based in realism, is it? Bleed is a mechanic meant to make physical more threatening so it has to work with everything. |

" Multiple definitions is a very bad thing. In the law it leads to unnecessary complexity and injustice. In games it creates confusion and gives a bad impression. In programming it leads to bugs and crashes. We must avoid multiple definitions at all cost! GGG has always said they want PoE to be an immersive and visceral experience and that requires as much realism as possible. " Bleeding is implemented as physical DoT but it specifically refers to losing blood. That's why we see blood squirting out or globs of blood orbiting around the char when it happens. " Everyone is familiar with how energy shields look and behave in the movies. What you're describing isn't even a shield. All damage would pass through it and it would only drain to recover your life rather than protect it, like an automatic life flask that recharges itself. " Regardless of what you believe, or think it should be, it is what it is. |

If we renamed the effect in "internal organs fall out" would it be alright and fitting your view ?

Your energy shield was corrupted by the blood of the monsters you killed.
We fight to delay the end because it's the means that matter.

You wrong
Would it make more sense for bleeding to only damage life and only apply when energy shield is zero? You still have 1hp point so ES will drop before your HP points. Last edited by sindicate#6328 on Aug 3, 2016, 6:03:44 PM
