I have been in a bitchy mood lately and to further that end lets look at some of the over the top mobs out there.
Today I ran into Abaxoth. I thought cool. New mob. Epic fight. This ended up being a complete waste of time. drops crap. Absolutely no risk vs reward. None.
Abaxoth was my last named uber mob that im going to stick around and kill. For now on its just going to be a port out and start another map.
In most games rare uber mobs = Good Drops. In Poe its just a waste of time. why bother...
If your going to put mobs like this in game at least make it worth while... Its a rare mob for gods sake give it a decent drop. I'm sure thats not going to break the economy.

Youre right. Nothing is worse than doing something difficult and getting nothing. Sadly, this is the state GGG put POE in. They want us to grind for lvl 100, they want us to trade for that item we badly want and they want us to get frustrated at the game for its bad loot.

Yup. Bosses drop terrible loot. There is absolutely no risk vs reward in this game. That is one of the equations they've never balanced out in many years.
What happens when something is fun and gives decent loot? Nerf.
Piety got nerfed for always dropping a TIER 1 map. Uber lab, nerfed.
Remember invasion and how hard the bosses were? Nobody seems to remember that they were not worth killing at all because the loot was always terrible.
I think Malachai drops the worst loot out of all the bosses and he is suppose to be the hardest story boss in the game. So, your reward for completing a difficulty is mostly magical gear and one or two rares if you're lucky. It's a joke.

If you don't like the game, why do you stick around the forums and bitch. Enjoy the game = play it. Don't enjoy the game = take a break, play something else.

I thought everyone just accepted the fact that skill gets you more opportunities to get lucky, but that 99.9995% of the time you walk away from a pile of yellow dog shit.

Here's a post I made on the subject a while ago:

I was going to post something like this, so I'll just hijack this thread instead.
The suggestion I was about to make is to give unique Beyond bosses a guaranteed drop that has a better-than-average chance of giving a useful result. Something like, one entry randomly chosen from the below list:
- a unique item (any basetype and level)
- 1 drop-only currency
- 1 drop-only gem
- a map that's 1-2 tiers higher than the one being played (if applicable), random rarity
- a 6 socket, 5-link item (random basetype and rarity)
- a sacrifice fragment
- maybe some divination cards?
All of these would still be subject to the usual relative rarity restrictions, so even if the game rolls the "drop-only currency" option, you're much more likely to get a Chaos than an Ex, etc. Also some entries could have a higher probability than others, e.g. you're more likely to get a map than a unique.
Considering that unique Beyonds are more dangerous than most map bosses, and that the only way to farm Beyond is by using up currency, AND that these options can still result in a trash item, I think it would be fair, but give people a good incentive to challenge themselves. It'd still be a massive gamble, but one with better odds than the usual item farm.

Its rude to hijack this thread with your suggestion you already posted elsewhere. GGG read your suggestion, let this one be heard.

I prefer to think of the forum as a platform for sharing ideas rather than a competition for GGG's attention, but ok.
