towershields with 6 sockets?

Can you still get them?
Steam:Gonejah
Negative. 1h weapons and shields are limited to 3 sockets. This is referenced in the skills section on the website. The primary reason: balance. You can get 6 sockets with a 2h wep... or 6 sockets total between weps+sword. Id personally like to see shields get access to at least a 4th socket.

Items can have multiple sockets, which can be different colors. Though the early items you encounter will contain one or maybe two sockets, the number will increase throughout the game. Most armor pieces can have up to four sockets. High end body armor can reach six sockets. One-hand weapons and shields cap out at three sockets, while two-hand weapons can contain six.

Doesn't really seem that fair.

Pre 0.9.4 you could chain across items. But now your stuck with 1 or maybe 2 skills with 4 or 5 support (in armour).

Unless you play someone with a two handed weapon, then you can go for 2 skills with 5 support.

But then again, with the current drop rate of fusing, its somewhat of an undertaking to craft 6 linked...
Still sane exile?

One of the reasons that was changed is because players would just stack every available support onto one skill, making choices rather non-existent. The idea is that supports should be meaningful, and limiting sockets upholds that idea.

I think the fact that you can't link two onehanders together quite gimps them compared to a two hander. They should atleast get a fourth socket to offset the fact that you won't be able to stack as many supports on skills as you can with their larger counterparts.

by removing extra places were you can make better skills its enforcing the 1 skill spam because all the other options will be mediocre at best. and its doing the oposite of the idea.

That's simply not true. The previous system strongly encouraged 1-skill spam, far more than this system does. Now that you can't overpower 1 skill with up to 19 supports (it was possible), players are more enticed to use multiple skills with 2-3 supports each. This is also more mana-efficient that 1 over-supported skill. Still, if want to beef up 1 skill, you have the ability to link 5 supports to it. If you want 2 strongly supported skills, you have the option to do so by using a 2-hander.

i wasnt talking about the previous system...

the 2hander issue makes sense for melle i agree, but not for casters there is a huge discrepancy in mods from gear that are must have between 1hander+shield or dagger+dagger to a 2hander.

possible solution would be nerf on possible mods for 1hand and shield("caster mods") but then spells would need adjusting to acomodate this change.
