Pyre Sapphire Ring questions

Hey guys, im working on a Vortex build and after watching ZiggyD's video about the build he's working on, i got really interested in his addition of a Pyre Sapphire Ring to cause an initial fire damage and debuff mobs with Elemental Equilibrium for the cold DOT.
According to him the DOT is not converted to fire.

So that led me to a couple of questions:

1) My %'s Increased Cold Damage from the skill tree still counts before the conversion right?

2) Now just speculating, if i add some %'s Increased Fire Damage from my skill tree, does it adds to the damage after the conversion?

PS. I dont have the ring to test and im at work ATM :P

Converted damage "remembers." Mark_GGG wrote a good post on that in the Mechanics Questions thread stickied at top of this forum just recently, and I think he also did so near the beginning of the thread
