I think it's more of people thinking, hey, it's pierce build, let's go drillneck. Easy to use quiver, incidentally gives good tooltip boost. Who gives a shit about crit consistency? /s
I also think it's partially precaso's fault for making drillneck popular, even though that was a long time ago. Also, I don't believe 2 heralds is quite worth using enlighten. I would use it only if had some alternate way of getting free power charges, and then use both anger and wrath. Otherwise you can't quite justify losing the slots. For try, for see, and for know.

" Thanks for the feedback, as you can see in ther title, it's a theory and I'm a casual player(kinda wierd in this kind of game). We can improve the build with your propositions. I prefer SA to LA because it allows you to use another support gem than GMP but it's pretty strong with FW so I've made few changes. I went for drillneck because I was first planing on going for a deadeye and when I saw raider's buffs, I changed the ascendancy tree and forgot I had the trillneck. I was planning on using my rare quiver. It's not a great rolled quiver but I don't think I will buy another one since I don't play much. (don't pay attention to the gems, I just bought the bow and dumped some gems in it) Should I buy a rare ele bow? Buy a voltaxic? or keep windripper for the high crit, high ApS? I think a 5/6L Belly could be great too instead of the kaom's for a single target setup. Since the tree doesnt have alot of life% a belly and a kaom's almost give the same amount of hp

Be honest with yourself and just admit Windripper is a crap. There must be a good reason why you won't find almost any builds with it. Crafting a ranger with Windripper is nonsense, because elemental ranger is a no go in this game. The skill tree is designed that way. If you want to play elemental, choose another class.
