Is tabula rasa any good?

Found one last night and im running a duelist centered around armour and what not so will giving up stats on chest be worth a 6 link tornado shot?

it is great for leveling and for testing different gem setups. some people use in in endgame too

it depends, the question is if the 6th slot (and whit sockets) is more valuable to your build than the mods on 5L chest (that you can afford). for example, someone with a shield could consider mods from chest to be less valuable than someone with 2H/DW. Someone could also want to switch support gems for different map rolls/bosses, which would give tabula some extra relative value, etc

Would it be more caluable to a caster or an archer?
It highly depends on ur build. Some builds just need a 6L to feel good, others dont really have that good boost with a 5th support. Most of the builds r in between. So it is for u to decide, what u value more, 6L or stats from armor. Since u already have it, just test and see how it feels for u.

As an example a 5L coil would be better for many evasion builds, than a 6L.

For endgame, there are some glass cannon builds that need a 6 link to function properly, such as cast on crit builds. In this case, a Tabula is ok to use until a proper 6L chest with stats can be afforded/found.

For the majority of builds though, the loss of defensive stats is not worth gaining the 1 additional gem socket. If you are looking to be cost effective, you would be better off buying any 5L chest for 1c from poe.trade, and then throwing a random alch on it for some stats, then master crafting a resist or something on top of that.

The utility of the Tabula Rasa is either for testing new gem set ups (so you don't need to worry about socket color), or for leveling new characters. When leveling, it is best paired with some Elreon Jewelry since a low level character will have difficulty sustaining a mana pool with a 6 linked skill.

Another thing that Tabula is great for is gem-swapping. If you have a build that requires gem-swapping (eg: spectres), or like to swap out gems for boss fights (eg: swap melee splash for faster attacks) then it is really neat.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

its pretty amazing. One of the reasons end game is so much more accessible now.

If you are using tornado shot then you are a ranged user, making the main drawback of Tabula less important. Im currently using it in my Facebreakers duelist and i'm not getting instagibbed even with Abyssus.

Of course a real 6L will be way better than Tabula, but I see no problem in keeping it on until you drop something better or have already finished gearing up the rest of your character.
tabula rasa is crap.

1. endgame
not enough defence
you can make better glass canon with proper armour

2. lveling
- 3-link in +1 gem lvl item is better because of lower mana cost

This trash armour give 5% movement speed and it already make it better for leveling than tabula
