[2.2] [PHC] Chieftain Whispering Ice (AoF,CI,GR,ZO,US,EO)

Hi everyone, here is my build guide for my Chieftain called Neph_Hypstering_Ice using the unique staff Whispering Ice in the Perandus HC league, currently level 92.

Short version of the build: Chieftain Whispering Ice with Avatar of Fire, Chaos Innoculation, Ghost Reaver, Zealot Oath, Unwavering Stance and Elemental Overload.

For those who are not familiar with the staff, central piece of the build, here it is:

It's really fun to build around this unique, because it has some very particular mechanics. For example, we only need to 6Socket it in order to have a 7L and the damage scales with INT.

Pros:
- Whispering Ice is cheap this league, so go get one for yourself!
- Good Flasks management provides lots of physical mitigation
- 4-5 endurance charges
- plenty of ES regen
- innate Leech from ascendancy passive.
- about 50% fire penetration !
- free Chilling Cround to slow the monsters
- Marauder CI is hypster !

Cons:
- We take 3 life nodes in the passive tree and we can't really transform them into ES, it looks bad...
- Less damage than the Scion Berserker/Elementalist version ?
- The FPS drop from the Chilling Ground is real
- I will add more when I will hit high tier maps

Gear Section

Ice Storm Setup

AOE Setup:
- Cold to Fire
- Fire penetration
- Spell Echo
- Faster Casting
- Hypothermia (or Mana Leech for less/no regen maps)
- Controlled Destruction

Boss Setup:
- Cold to Fire
- Fire penetration
- Spell Echo
- Faster Casting
- Concentrated Effect
- Elemental Focus

Why Chieftain ?

Here is what we get from the Chieftain Ascendancy:
- 30 % increased fire damage
- 35 % increased fire damage against Burning Ennemies
- 15% chance to Ignite (it happens a lot)
- 1,5% ES regen
- 0,5% ES regen per Endurance Charges (=2,5% ES regen with 5 Endurance Charges so it makes for a total of 4% ES regen at full Endurance Charges which is easy to maintain)
- 1% fire damage leech
- 10% fire penetration (yay ~15% more damage against bosses at 75% fire resistance)
and some other more minor stuff:
- Cannot be Ignited (not that bad for CI, it usually prevents the ES to refill)
- 10% chance to gain an endurance charge when we kill a burning ennemy (it happens sometimes but it is not reliable enough to drop Enduring Cry from the setup)

Bandits

Normal: Help Kraityn for all res
Cruel: Kill All
Merciless: Help Oak for extra endurance charge

First ! Interesting concept, i'm wondering about some stat screen action, avg damage and how you produce end charges. Seems solid though.

Hello there,

I will add videos and screenshot asap.

For the endurance charges, I self cast Enduring Cry. You don't need to if you keep moving and killing the mobs fast enough (thx to chieftain passive) but as soon as you don't encounter a big pack, there is a good probability that you will loose your endurance charges.

If you want more damage, you can switch Enduring cry for Rallying Cry.

Edit: added videos and screenshots.
