This is my first crack at trying to put together a build of my own. I am posting it here to get some input from the community of weather or not it look viable or if it is just a bombshell.

If you can afford to get a lifesprig wand it will help you greatly getting through normal dificulty. Imo it ain't a good idea to go crit with firestorm. Too much point investment as the secondary effect (burning) does only minimal damage. With shaper of desolation you also don't need to crit to get elemental conflux.
Ash, Frost and Storm is (almost) never worth taking as it averages only 10% increase per point. You get more by just taking the starting nodes at templar. Increased duration from the tree is much more important. That way you can try using controlled destruction. With a dagger you can also use whirling blades-fortify for movement which is much much better than any other movement skill (-> fortify!). If you would take Mastermind of Discord instead of Beacon of Ruin you could use lightning warp instead of whirling blades to get the extra fire penetration. Best gem setup imo: Firestorm - spell echo - fire penetration - increased duration - controlled destruction - faster casting/concentrated effect (switch depending on whether you face a boss or are just clearing an area). I recommend using a lvl 1 firestorm - curse on hit - curse 1 - curse 2 setup. Good curses: Flammability, elemental weakness, warlords mark (for life and mana leech and endurance charges), temp chains, enfeeble. Pick a more offensive or defensive combo depending on your personal playstyle. I recommend warlords mark because of the leech and charges. BTW you don't need a single target spell (fireball) when using firestorm. Firestorm is fine as single target spell. Just use concentrated effect on tougher bosses. Personally i prefer a decoy totem over minions for destraction. Takes less sockets, draws better aggro and can be placed wherever you want it. |
