r4wb1rd's Lootfilter - humble, comprehensive, pleasant on the eye

Updated for PoE 2.2x!

I'd like to share my lootfilter I branched off of ZiggyD's lootfilter from the 2.0.0 beta.

The design goals for this filter are:

  • 1. Be humble - use the PoE color scheme and don't burn the player's eyes or bleed their ears out
  • 2. Be recipe focused - teach vendor recipes to newer players, highlight recipe items for experienced players
  • 3. Be simple - follow as few rules as possible, and don't hide anything

This ultimately means this filter is NOT intended for magic finders or min-maxers. This filter is not as powerful as Neversink's but it does have the same leveling and tiering logic that ZiggyD's filter uses. The filter is great for beginners or casual players and it's great for players like me that don't want things to be hidden :)

Note: You can receive information about updates/progress on the lootfilter and my stream, by checking out the GitHub repository or watch me use this filter on my stream.

Why did I make this filter?

I played with ZiggyD's filter during the Awakening beta and I liked it alot, but I was missing some tier distinctions in late game items and currency, also I was not quite comfortable with the drop sounds. I later tried Neversink's but for my taste it was WAY too loud both visually and acoustically. I then set out to make a version between those two and after half a year of testing and tweaking, I wanted to share it with you.

Comparison of Neversink's (left) to mine (right):

Visual Rules

  • 1. No items are changed in size or hidden until drop level 28
  • 2. As drop levels increase, bad bases are displayed smaller in size, but never hidden
  • 3. Recipe items (Chromatic, Chisel, Quality) have a grey border and a dark grey background
  • 4. Mid-tier currency items get a border in the currency color
  • 5. Higher tier currency (Alchs, Chaos, ...) get a light background
  • 6. Rare high-tier currency (Devines, Exalts, ...) get a bigger font size, as well as a light background
  • 7. As you progress into late game, lower tier life flasks will stop showing
  • 8. Starting with late game, blues and white items get the smallest font size and have no background or border
  • 9. Starting with drop level 60, good chance bases get the unique item border
  • 10. Starting with drop level 60, non-recipe worthy, big rare items will get a smaller font size and a transparent background (since they pile up and clutter up the screen and you won't be using them other than for alterations)
  • 11. Starting with item level 60, rare items for the Chaos recipe will get a yellow border
  • 12. Starting with item level 75, rare items for the Regal recipe will get a blue border
  • 13. Starting with item level 75, good jewellery bases will get a yellow border if it's a normal item.
  • 14. Starting with item level 78, the highest tier of every item base will get a yellow border if it's a normal item (so you can pick up good crafting bases)
  • 15. The highest tier of every item base will get an orange border if it's a rare item (so you know when the best evasion glove drops as a rare) - this overwrites the chaos/regal recipe rule
  • 16. The highest maraketh bases will always show unmodified
  • 17. Maps have a slightly brighter background and a border color indicating the tier. Higher tier maps also have a slightly bigger font size
  • 18. Fully linked 5- and 6 links have a bigger font size and a border according to their rarity.

Acoustic Rules

This is pretty simple: Higher currency items, divination cards, jewels, divination cards, 5/6-links and mid- or high tier maps will play a drop sound. The sounds are much more humble (volume 33 - 66) and with 33 for lower tier drops and 66 for higher tier drops. If you really worry about offscreen drops, you can crank them up but the way they are now it's fine as well - the sounds integrate really well into the game sound effects and you'll still hear them and not miss any drop.

Only super rare items (Mirrors, Rods, Feathers) will have >100 volume.

Misc

There are other small, league specific rules (Perandus coins, Talismans, Challenge related items) that are included in the current version which might be changed/extended on later.

After trying a very many filters since they were first introduced, I usually end up back on ZiggyD's. Looks like you have made a lot of improvements I never knew I wanted but now can't live without.

Thanks for sharing!
