Unable to connect to login server

Unable to connect to login server.
Using the Steam Client.
Been experiencing this problem 2 days before Ascendancy launched.

Start game, click login button, "Unable to connect to login server", quit game, repeat.
Took me 2 hours to login on launch day.
Took 20 minutes yesterday.
Been trying 2 hours today without success.

Have disabled AV and firewall (not sure why this would make a difference, i've been playing POE for two years with AV and firewall)
Have rebooted router.
Have rebooted PC several times.
Have re-installed the game several times.


TCPVIEW shows no active connections for PathOfExileSteam.EXE

Do I have to restart the game each time? Can I just keep clicking the Login button?
Do i need to change my ISP to play POE?

4 hours later, more than 300 attempts to login, all failed

Still fails.

What seems odd to me is that TCPVIEW shows nothing for PathOfExileSteam.EXE It's as though the program doesn't even attempt to make a connection.

Anyone else getting this issue (epsecially UK players)?

Hi there!

Im sorry to hear that you experience the same problem as me (and a lot of others). There has yet to be a statement from GGG about this issue. All we can do atm is wait/yell to hope we finally get atleast some sort of notification.

Some people have been able to login by starting the launcher, opening a webbrowser and then imediatelly closing it again. Why? I really cant tell you... It also seems like this may cause your sound to not work... again i dont know why.

EDIT: and this is not an issue tied to one country. I myself am froum Austria but i've also read posts form guys living in america etc...

I'm running the Steam version.

Set the command line option:
1. Open Steam Library
2. Right-click on Path of Exile
3. Choose Properties
4. Click "Set Launch Options"
5. Enter "-ns" and click OK
6. Run game
7. It connects!

Tried the -swa option. Fails to connect.

God dang... you are right. I am using the non steam version and this allowed me to log in without shenanigans... sadly playing poe without sound isnt really that enjoyable... but atleast i can play it this way without having to do weird stuff
