Ci Claw Cyclone Trickster (2.2)

I've been designing this build (you might wanna open it in emmets new early ascendancy build released today) ever since trickster was announced.

**Keep in mind that the PoeSkillTree program at this moment counts ascendancy points as skillpoints and this build currently only uses 111 passive points**

-24 from all quest granted passive points that puts the finished tree at level 87. and from 88-100 there's tons of possibilities. the 11 remaining points can even be used to pick up the entire scion evasion circle (114% more evasion) if that's what you want. or if you would rather keep kraityn alive for the +1 frenzy charge it still amounts to 102% evasion (not including the three dex nodes on the way there

The idea for survivability is to DW claws with Ghost Reaver to keep the ES up while CI does what CI does.

I'm hoping that you guys could critique the passive tree and help me clean it up, maybe theres a better path I could have taken.

Maybe 317% increased physical damage is too much, or +10% increased block isnt enough.

Gear suggestions are also very welcome!

Basically I planned a route to Ci, that went close to health nodes for leveling purposes. I decided because the trickster has many massive buffs to ES and evasion that I should look for pathways to any significant eva/ES nodes and plan around those. I took 2 jewel slots that have either of the major life circles in their large radius. Grabbed any bonus elemental resists for gearing flexability in merciless. and every +block while dual wielding node I could find. picked up the increased AoE nodes in the witch tree because cyclone.

After that I picked up as many +attack speed and +physical nodes as I could without going out of the way.

The Ascendancy Class

#The Trickster

##Walk the Aether
* Movement Skills cost no mana
* 20% Increased Attack and Cast Speed if you've used a Movement Skill recently.

This was the decisive factor. Because Cyclone is tagged as a movement skill the Trickster can cyclone indefinitely and as you're spamming the ability you will continuously gain a 20% bonus to attack speed.

Additionally, Whirling blades is tagged as movement and additionally its speed is affected greatly by attack speed modifiers, so in between packs the trickster should be able to move around insanely fast.

##Patient Reaper
* 30% Damage over Time
* 60% increased Recovery Rate of Life, Mana, and Energy Shield if you've killed an enemy affected by your Damage Over Time recently.

The first point isn't very useful for this build *but* the second point can be useful in niche situations, Herald of Ash will apply the DoT to at least one enemy per pack and if the situation arises that my claws leech doesn't keep my ES at full then the 60% increase will take care of it... Although I don't see a situation where this node will be absolutely amazing in this build.

##Swift Killer

* 10% chance to gain a Frenzy Charge on kill
* +1 to Maximum Frenzy Charges

while this node doesn't specifically make the build amazing its a nice buff. Claw builds can use Claws of the Magpie node to have a 25% chance every hit to steal charges and Walk the Aether will hopefully cause us to hit very rapidly, stealing charges as they appear. And having 10% additional chance on kill to gain a charge is nice security for packs with no frenzy charge generation, or situations where RNGesus is just taking a dump on your chest.

The additional frenzy charge is also nice because I didn't take any additional charge nodes so with a maximum of 4 charges you will have an additional 16% attack speed and 16% more damage. Not absolutely amazing but its free damage.

##Weave the Arcane

* 25% increased maximum mana
* 50% increased Mana Regeneration
* 5% chance to recover 10% maximum mana when you use a skill

I really don't have a lot to say about this node. This is a Cyclone build on a class that doesn't use any resources to use Cyclone. I guess it can be good if I can find a mana dump ability.

But I'm using my for Mana pool for Discipline +HoT+HoA... so its a useless node.

##Ghost Dance
* 20% faster start of energy shield recharge
* 5% chance to dodge attacks
* 5% chance to dodge spell damage
* 10% increased Movement Speed while on Full Energy Shield

5% dodge isn't so great because I don't take Acrobatics (because of the 50% ES debuff) but 5% is more than 0% I guess you can see it as "you could dodge 1 out of 20 hits"

20% faster start is great for any situation where you run out of things to hit.

10% movement speed is nice because movement speed.

## Shade Form

* +500 Evasion Rating
* +250 Energy shield
* 20% increased attack and cast speed if energy recharge has started recently
* 20% more chance to evade attacks while not on full energy shield

This is a fantastic defensive node. The offensive(attack speed) part isn't that valuable because with a life steal build you probably wont have many situations where your energy shield will have anything to recharge but as the passive tree stands now I've got 235% evasion increase and 405% Energy shield(two jewel slots for Energy From Within which amounts to +1175 Evasion and + 1013 energy from this nodes bonuses alone

Also, 20% more chance to evade attacks when not on full energy shield is okay too... Any situation where there are more hits coming in that you are able to completely out heal means you will will be morel likely to dodge the gang bang.

Unique Gear Possibilities

I'm not including ascendancy items yet, because we have not seen all the new uniques they are introducing, the psuedo shield claw could be one of the best in slot options even at level 46

##Jewels

I have two jewel slots specifically for Energy From Within

Pugilist
The only really close by jewel slot thats open is on the way to the scion evasion circle. the large radius will net you 50dex or 17%(rounded up) evasion and phys damage. not particularly amazing, but not at all a bad thing.

Warlord's Reach

8% damage isnt a whole lot, but +1 range is a big deal for claws. having a base radius of 7 (only 1 above unarmed) claws aren't the *best* option for cyclone, but Warlords Reach bumps that up to a base of 8, the same bas as 2h swords, maces, and staffs

## Body Armor

Bronn's Lithe

Is there really another option for a cyclone build? its even got 1100 base evasion on it. more **movement speed, attack speed,** and **damage**

It lacks energy shield and resistances though. which limits our options on other gear.

##Rings and Amulets

Eye of Chayula + Dream Fragments

We are a Ci build, we take typical Ci jewelry. stunlocks are bad.

##Boots

Rainbowstride

There *will* be better rare boots than this, but if you really want uniques then these are best. We won't make huge use of the block chance because DW builds aren't exactly block machines.

##Helmets

Crown of Eyes

Accuracy, Energy shield, Life Leech, and a small 12% damage bonus. but your resists will take a hit, that might make this less worth it because Bronn's lithe already hurts your resist pool. but if you can fit it in this will be really nice to have.

## CLAWS

Bloodseeker

essentially two free skillpoints, because you could refund vaal pact and the dex node we take to get to it. *sure* only the life leech specifically from this claw is instant but with how fast we attack, and its every other hit. I'm sure the instant leech from this claw plus the over time leech from your other claw is fine. besides, *TWO FREE SKILL POINTS*

Oh, and theres the *additional* 2.8% of your physical damage leeched. We are already hard to kill. lets make it harder.

Essentia Sanguis

I really do want to say this claw is a must have, required, if no haveo we no worko.

Paper dps before *any* outside bonuses are applied is significantly higher than both Bloodseeker *and* allure better yet it grants us an 8% additional block chance when dual wielding which is much needed. up to 40 additional ES which amounts to 162 ES after passive tree bonuses.

and ***Ghost Reaver*** the passive keystone that changes our life leech to instead apply to our ES. Sure you can take the node on the passive tree. ***or*** you can not take the node, instead take what i want to argue is BiS claw for this build. and put that passive point somewhere else. additionally, if you also opt out of vaal pact due to Bloodseeker you have *three* additional passive points. which opens up more possibilities, it can also get you right in between Weapon Artistry, and Aspect of the Panther.

That means :

* 4% additional block with dual wield

* 54% additional physical damage

* 10% attack speed

* 8% evasion

(there's a lot of math I did there that I'm not showing my work for. Sorry Dr.Williams for my insolence)

Allure

These aren't particularly amazing its about on par with Bloodseeker on paper DPS. I don't think the calculator I used includes bloodseekers +10-12 physical damage or Allures 30-40 physical damage though. If it doesn't, then Allure comes out on top in terms of raw damage output. but it has 0.8% less leech, 5% less movement speed. and two "dead stats"

As a trickster we don't have a use for the 15% movement speed while phasing, because whirling blade spam is both free, and faster. and the only two vaal skills worth a damn for this build are [Vaal Haste](http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Vaal_Haste) which is an amazing ability, but phasing doesn't help us at all because we use cyclone and [Vaal Cyclone](http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Vaal_Cyclone) which phasing is once again useless with. for *numerous* reasons. notably, Allure phase lasts 3 seconds and Vaal cyclone is a stationary skill that lasts 5.

You're better off with Essentia and bloodseeker. Or Essentia and a good rare.

##Flasks

Atziri's Promise

We are a Ci build. We don't need chaos resist. *but* you do gain up to 25% of your physical damage as ***extra*** chaos damage. That's a lot of chaos damage. and 2% more leeched life is nothing to scoff at.

Lion's Roar

Its getting buffed in 2.2 so you have two uses per full flask. It gives 3,000 armor which is nice enough. 75% chance for enemies to stop dickslapping you. 30% more physical damage which is really nice too.

But I'm personally going to pass because knock back is a peeve of mine.

Rotgut

We aren't a crit build. don't grab this. we also don't need a quicksilver flask. Whirling blades has that more than covered.

Rumi's Concoction

"Silver, what about Rumi's? we already have the blocking capabilities of a cripple playing football in a Physical Education Class."

Its true. we are about as good at blocking blows to the face as Rhianna. Rumi's gives up to 30% additional block added onto our 18% (passive tree + essentia) it's got two uses on a full charge and gives +3000 armor. Basically, if you want to always be balls deep and can afford it. buy this and spam the hell out of it.

Taste of Hate

Basically every build takes this shit. its stupid fucking strong. assuming you've capped yourself on cold resist this thing bumps you up to ***85%*** cold resist. then causes 30% of all physical damage to be taken ***as cold*** you also deam 30% MORE damage, done as cold I'm not sure if it applies chills but if it does I'll need a new change of pants.

you also get 2 uses out of a full flask. it lasts 3.5 seconds at quality0 and with no flask passives. take this and Rumi's then cry about the fact that you no longer have the currency to afford to feed you masters and exiles.

Upcoming Uniques

##Jewels

Reckless Defence

This could be good for the close by jewel slots I didn't take. Its a mere 2% block chance and causes 20% of your block chance to also be applied to spells. its 2% more than we had before though. it brings us to 20% block (assuming you're using... yeah you should know this part by now) The downside is that we have a 10% additional chance to be critically hit. on high crit maps that could be an issue. but we already leech energy shield and evade pretty well. so crits shouldn't hurt us too much.

##Claws

Advancing Fortress

I'm going to be honest with you guys here. seeing this on upcoming items is what triggered my burning desire to make a DW claw build, and subsequently rip 4 or 5 shadows before I figured out that its likely a bad idea to attempt to level from 1-46 dual wielding magic quality claws and 1s/2s gear

I'm not exactly sure how good this thing is in practice. but it's paper stats are lovely. Its a 1h so it gets a maximum of 3L. and comes with "Socketed Gems are Supported by level 12 Fortify" So put your Whirling blades in this with Faster attacks and maybe ...Enchance if you're feeling reckless. Faster attacks and Whirling blades both get increased attack speed with quality... we already move at insane speeds. But sometimes there's just a need for speed (Watch out for any trees.)

Its paper DPS is laughable(116). its roughly 1/3 of Bloodseeker or allure (300ish) , and 1/4 of Essentia (400ish). But we don't love it for its dps.

We want to love it because it ***HAS*** dps while also being a 1h weapon (dual wield bonuses!) that gives us **shield stats**

* +110 evasion (259 with passives)
* +35 ES (142 with passives)
* **15% chance to block**

Yes. 15% chance. +10 from passives. plus 8 from essentia we sit at 33% block chance.

That right there? thats like having a 1h and a shield. but now you get all the bonuses of dual wield
* the leech of two claws
* the damage of two claws
* the attack speed of two claws
* all our physical damage, attack speed, and unique bonuses that apply to claws? BASICALLY APPLY TO THIS SHIELDCLAW

Will it be BiS late game? who knows. will it be BiS through cruel and likely through merciless acts 1-3? My money says yes.
