[2.1] Crit Reverse-Knockback Ranged Attack Totems!
Hey everyone. Here's a quick guide of my current character that is still in development (lvl 74 and needs to respec quite a bit to maximize potential) but it's fun and different. Some might even say niche...please feel free to make suggestions / improvements to my build as I'm not a pro and I am sure I made a couple of easy to spot mistakes. I'm still testing skill setups and what not so it can be highly customized.
Playstyle I only play totem builds but I was getting tired of spell totem and I've been dying for a ranged attack totem. With the new bow skills and a few lucky key drops, I put together this. The idea of the build is to have high crit (Will achieve max crit end-game) and king of the hill for knockback. Empire's Grasp gives us reverse knockback and paired with Chin Sol we get 100% more damage. But here's the problem...bow users can be kind of squishy. That's not how I like to play (again I love totems) and totems are a great pairing. I can place my totems directly in front of mobs to get the 100% more bonus without risking my own neck. Another neat feature is Lioneye's Eye in the armor socket on the left side of the tree, which grants us a lot of bow crit (transformed from melee) and the staves cluster gives us 10% chance to get endurance charge on crit. So as I attack with Frenzy to curse and generate my frenzy/power charges, I'm also occasionally getting endurance charges. Read on for build specifics! Skills Main Skill: 4L - Shrapnel Shot + Ranged Attack Totem + Physical to Lightning + Faster Attacks 5L - Shrapnel Shot + Ranged Attack Totem + Physical to Lightning + Faster Attacks + WED (Huge dps increase) 6L - Shrapnel Shot + Ranged Attack Totem + Physical to Lightning + Faster Attacks + WED + Physical Projectile Attack Damage (or hypothermia will work well here too) I like to use Shrapnel Shot for a few reasons. It has 100% pierce chance which synergizes with Drill neck. It converts damage to lightning (with a lucky vaal on Drillneck we can have 100% convert to lightning) which scales with WED and synergizes with the rest of the build (call of the brotherhood). It also can overlap both parts of the attack for double damage. If a mob gets hit by the long range attack and the short range aoe it takes double. Secondary: 4L - Frenzy + GMP + PCoC + Faster Attacks 5L - Frenzy + GMP + PCoC + CoH + Projectile Weakness/Assassin's Mark 6L - Frenzy + GMP + PCoC + CoH + Projectile Weakness + Assassin's Mark Movement: In Empire's Grasp: Blink Arrow + Faster Attack + Faster Projectile + ? Auras: Hatred + Wrath + Enlighten Defense/Utility: CWDT - Immortal Call + Increased Duration + Ice Golem Gear There are a couple of pieces that are required/highly recommended: Weapon - Chin Sol Quiver - Drill neck Helm - Rat's Nest Gloves - Empire's Grasp Ring - Call of the Brotherhood Jewels Lioneye's Fall (Converts Melee to Bow) (Armor Socket left part of the tree) Rain of Splinters (Any socket) The rest of the slots are open which should allow for max res and life. Try to focus on WED and Crit Chance/multi wherever possible. A corrupted amulet with +1 curse is highly recommended otherwise you can use the boots as a placeholder. Quick Summary Because this what a character reset I used a Scion who hasn't taken the right bandits. Therefore I'm actually pretty sub-optimal right now because I only have 3 power charges (compared to 6 on planned tree) and I didn't take the phys bonus in cruel. When I either save up enough regrets or just re-level an alt I'll be able to see true potential. Right now I have about 5k dps listed and each totem shoots 3 bolts. Not sure if the AoE shotguns or not. 6 bolts @ 5k dps each (x2 if hit by the bolt and AoE) and 100% more damage from chin + the more damage multiplier from point blank. And extra damage taken from being shocked. I can't do math well enough to calculate the actual damage but everything is frozen and shatters and it kills extremely fast. That's satisfying enough for me :) I'm still low level so I'm working my way up through maps. I'm on rank/tier 4 or 5 I believe. Haven't attempted Atziri yet and probably won't unless&until I get into my upper 80s. Can post SS at a later time.
