I am addicted to Thief's Torment

I tried it out in a Double Strike build focusing on Attack Speed and became totally addicted. Now I wanna use it in all my melee attack builds :3

I mean, look at this... It's an item that is totally dedicated to making life easier:

- 15 Mana gained on hit means you never have to worry about mana again. Most attacks are supported by either Multistrike or multiple projectiles, meaning each time you spend mana for the attack, you get multiple hits, and so all the mana used back and more. Also, some maps can roll with "cannot leech life and mana", but that doesn't apply to Mana and Life gain on hit!

- 30 Life gained on hit is VERY big, considering you get it for "free", applied globally, and don't have to use a LGoH support gem.

- 50% reduced effect of curses on you means you can run any map with any curse. I've done Vulnerability, Enfeeble and even Temporal Chains with the ring equipped and found those maps were easily doable.

- 22% to all resistances with a perfect roll. That's a total of 66% resistances! While good rare rings can have more, this one doesn't lag behind in this aspect either.

- 16% IIQ is the icing on the cake. Having at least a little bit of MF while playing and running maps makes a big difference, even if the rest of the gear isn't focused on MF.

Only real downside is the lack of life, and you do lose some flat life that you could get from 2 rare rings, as Thief's Torment occupies both slots. I'm pretty comfortable with that downside, considering all the upsides, though.

It seems this ring fell in popularity a lot after its nerf but I still think it's VERY good, not totally OP but such a delight to use.

I totally agree, i used this ring for many different chars, it is highly underrated. Before they added Mgoh to the tree, it was even more OP.

Was the same for me. When I acquired my first Thief's Torment I was completely in love with it and made a lot of builds build around it.
Great ring!

Yeah I've been using it on every single attack build I've made ever since open beta, I love that damn ring.
I can understand the addiction, but...

66% resistances (perfect roll) from the two ring slots? That lags FAR behind, being equivalent to a single moderate-high resistance roll on each ring. You don't need good rare rings to beat that - two mediocre rings with resistances will totally outshine Thief's Torment in the resistance department.

That's not to say that Thief's Torment isn't great in builds tailored around it, but the lack of resistances on the two item slots that in many builds carry the weight of resistances is certainly not a minor consideration when considering general usefulness.

It's pretty nice, but I find it very difficult to live without accuracy and Weapon Elemental Damage on my rings. Even for phys based attack builds, WED adds a ton of damage.

In total you're sacrificing

60% crit chance
600 accuracy
72% weapon elemental damage
life and higher resists

Even very cheap rings can get you some of those stats, so as cool as Thief's Torment is, it's hard to choose it over 5-10c rings.
Oh yeah!

This ring + Infractem + Lightning Arrow = the perfect marriage.

I guess in my addiction I denied the fact that it occupies both ring slots =P. 66% resistances would be quite okay for 1 ring slot, though. What I was trying to say is that is has *some* amount of resistances, which means you don't feel too bad about using the ring and making the sacrifices that unique items in general require. In any case, my first build with this ring has resistances WAY overcapped. I'm currently actually dropping some resistances on gear for more useful stats such as chaos resistance or IIR (which goes well with the IIQ from the ring!).
I wonder if it has a corruption that alters it to say "Can use other rings". :O #TheDream
