2.1 Life Based Crit Flicker Strike, 200K Sheet DPS Under 10ex (Semi Updated for Ascendancy)

Hello guys, I recently made a Flicker Strike build which I thought was extremely fun and strong for what it costed. I thought that I might as well share it, so here you go, Itsmety's Life Based Crit Flicker Strike.

Ascendancy

With the nerf to Vessel of vinktar removing the Instant leech during flask effect, we will now have to path to vaal pact.
https://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAwIAAF4FLQW1Bx4ILgzyDY0OSA-rES8Rlha_GY4brSPTI_YkiyT9JpUqCyo4Kwos4S5TL8w2PTfUPeI-z0MxRwZHfkjuSVFKfUz_TUZNkk4qUUdU_lVLWhpbr13yYeJirGLsY0NlTWwIbIxvJ3BScFZxsHTteu97FH11feOE2YTvh3aJ04w2jX2Nv49gkBuUuJUumhOaapuNnaqjiqXLrGa0xbVIuT69Nr3mvqfBgsLswzPDOsjw02_Tfth22sHb1Nvn45_nVOtj7T_tg-4O73rw1fGK8uH2o_lj_MX-uv_e

Apart from that, the Raider Subclass is going to be legendary. We already have 90% Crit chance, 94% if you have 6 power charges. By taking Avatar of Slaughter (+1 Frenzy & 3% Increased attack damage and attack speed, resulting in a possible 33% increased attack damage and speed ONTOP of what frenzy charges already give us) and Rapid Assault (20% Increased Attack Damage and 20% Chance to gain onslaught on kill) this build is going to be even stronger and funner.

Why Play this Build?

1. Its super duper godly fun. I mean... it's Flicker Strike, and its Crit based. You teleport to packs of Enemies at the speed of light leaving nothing but shards of frozen flesh as you go, how does that not sound awesome?

2. If you're sick of playing a Ranger that just sits back and cruises through all end game content, and/ or are tired of having to worry about mana regeneration as a Caster.

3. Its relatively Cheap, For under 10 exalts (which is already more than enough), you can clear up to tier 13 maps with relative ease, well atleast I did. I don't have any tier 14 maps so I can't quote on that.

4. Once again, its super fun, and you actually have to press things to make you stronger and to keep you from dying.

Core Items

Explanation
Bino's is the main weapon of choice for this build. For its price, 2-3exalts you get 9.9% crit, and around 220-240 pdps. The only thing that beats a Bino's is a 350pdps+ Dagger with atleast 9% Crit, which is already more than 20exalts. I think i'll stick with bino's for now. Bino's also has the innate poison life regen mod, which with adders touch, gives us up to 2,000 life regen per second.

Abyssus is the other core item. It's what let's us one shot packs, and makes the build feel ten times stronger. The % Increased Damage Taken is hardly noticeable, this will be explained later.

Vessel of Vinktar is the single most important flask you need, absolutely mandatory, extremely hard to play without. The flask is INSANE, 30% Of lightning damage leeched back INSTANTLY as HEALTH AND MANA. Because we use the Physical to Lightning gem, we get MASSIVE leech. Its literally Atziri's Acuity with a twist in a flask. The only downside is that you become shocked on use. However that can be seen as a good and bad thing. To dispel the shock you use another flask, in my case a Granite of Grounding. Since I use both at the same time I always have a granite up and instant leech which = More tankiness. The bad thing is that you technically lose a flask slot which you could use for another damage/defence flask eg. Atziri's Promise, Lion's Roar, Rumi's

These three items together only cost around 5 Exalts

Pro's of the build

- Super Fast
- Super Strong
- Its a lightning build, its Zappidy Zippidy fast.
- Can do Almost all map mods.
- Relatively Cheap to start .
- Sort of Tanky.
- Immune to Elemental and Physical Reflect rares.
- Basically immune to targeted projectile attacks (Arrows, Arctic Breath, Fireball, etc)
- It's a Physical build, so its potential is basically limitless.

Con's of the Build

- Cannot do Elemental Reflect Maps
- Physical Reflect Maps can be a problem with certain map mods.
- Expensive to take far, however that goes for all physical builds.
- Big Damage Spikes hurt, EG. Malformation Piety Beam.
- Relies on Frenzy Charges, running out of them can get you killed - but that rarely happens.

280k DPS, 10 Frenzy + Taste of Hate

DPS is Calculated by multiplying attack speed by Damage per use. 9.9 x 28323.78 = 280,405

Defence, 10 Frenzy + Taste of Hate + Vessel of Vinktar + Granite + Ruby

Items that compliment the build extremely well, and should be acquired to make the build feel even stronger

Explanation
Lightning Coil increases our tankiness against physical attacks by converting 30% of Physical Damage taken into Lightning. This synergises extremely well with Vessel of Vinktar, as we will always be popping that, so we will always have 85% Lightning Resistance, unless in -max maps.

Taste of Hate further increases our tankiness by converting ANOTHER 30% of Physical Damage Taken into Cold, which when using Taste of Hate, we resist by 85%. It also acts as a mini hatred buff, giving us extra cold damage, which once again synergises extremely well with our core gem, Ice Bite.

How the build works
Spoiler
The build uses Physical to Lighting, as mentioned earlier, to convert most of our physical damage to lightning. It also adds extra lightning damage on top of our converted damage. This helps deal with physical reflect, and enables the use of the Vessel of Vinktar flask.

The way that this build gains Frenzy Charges is by using the Ice Bite gem. When we shatter enemies we have up to 59% chance to gain a frenzy charge. Because we crit so hard with Abyssus, and use Taste of Hate for even more cold damage, we basically never run out of Frenzy Charges.

Current Level 90 Passive Skill Tree

This build gets 166% Increased Maximum life from the tree, and 3 Jewel Sockets, which can potentially give another 21% Increased Maximum Life. With my current gear, I'm sitting at around 4700 Hp.

Bandit Choices
Spoiler
Oak-Oak-Kraitlyn
Oak in Noraml Gives us more life, and we need alot of that.

Oak in Cruel gives us 16% Increased Physical Damage, We hardly get any % scaling from the tree, so getting this is better than a skill point. Attack speed is negligible on Flicker.

Kraitlyn in Merciless Gives an Extra Frenzy Charge. Now, here's the thing. With my current gear I have a total of 10 Frenzy Charges, which is Overkill. If you have a + 1 Darkray Vectors and + 1 Amulet, getting the Power Charge from Alira will be better, as it gives you another 5% chance to crit.

Gem Links
Spoiler
All Gem links are in order of Importance.
Main Attack: Flicker Strike - Multistrike - Melee Splash - Ice bite - Physical to Lightning - Melee Physical Damage If you only have a 5l, see Alternate setup.

Oh shit setup: Cast when Damage Taken - Molten Shell - Life Leech - Summon Ice Golem As Flicker you hardly get hit, but when you do, this setup ensures that when you take another big hit, you'll leech back some hp, and gain armour. Level these to what you feel is appropriate. Mine are CwdT (lvl 16) Molten Shell (lvl 19)

Single Target: Frenzy - Faster Attacks - Melee Physical Damage - (Last Gem Slot is Optional)

Movement: Whirling Blades - Blood Magic - Faster Attacks

Auras: Hatred - Blood Rage - Increased Duration - (Last gem slot is Optional)

Curse: Blasphemy - Poachers Mark - Assassins Mark

Main Curse Setup
Spoiler
For general easy maps you want to run Assassins Mark as your Curse. This, enables faster clearing and basically a capped crit chance. For Curse Immune maps, just turn it off, no point reserving mana.
For "Monsters are immune to Elemental Status Ailment" maps, Run Poachers Mark and swap out Ice Bite for Faster Attacks.

Alternate 5L Setup
Spoiler
Using a 5L actually requires a different but similar setup. By Dropping Ice Bite, we enable the use of a 5L, and by Running Poachers Mark instead of Assassins Mark, we can play with a 5L much more effectively. I actually used this setup until I reached level 89, when I finally bought a 6L Lightning Coil

Gearing
Spoiler
Ugh, the part I hate about making a build. Finding good gear is always expensive. But, if you're looking for upgrades, prioritize these stats in order, only after you have capped resistances.

Rings - A Defensive and Offensive Slot, Prioritize Defence
- Preferably on a Diamond Base
- Maximum Life
- Any uncapped Resistance
- Accuracy
- Flat Physical Damage

Amulet - An extreme Damage Slot
Extreme Luxury Only - + 1 To Maximum Frenzy Implicit
- Maximum Life
- Crit Multiplier
- Crit Chance

Belt - A Heavy Defensive Slot
- Atleast 30 Strength
- Maximum Life
- Any uncapped Resistances
- Weapon Elemental Damage
- % Increased Flask Charges Gained

Shield - A Super Heavy Defensive Slot
- Maximum Life
- Any Uncapped Resistances
- Armour
- Block Chance

Helmet - Only if not using Abyssus (Highly Not Recommended)
- Maximum life
- Any uncapped Resistances
- Armour

Gloves - If not using Maligaro's Virtuosity - Can use Atziri's Acuity, but not recommended due to less crit multipier, and they are Super Expensive
- Maximum Life
- Flat Physical Damage
- Attack Speed
- Any uncapped Resistances
- Armour/Evasion

Boots - If not using + 1 corrupted Darkray Vectors
- Maximum Life
- Strength
- Any uncapped Resistances

Dagger - Unless you are super rich, use a Bino's
- Atleast 350 PDPS
- Atleast 9% Crit Chance

Jewels
- % Increased Maximum Life
- % Increased Critical Strike Chance with One handed Melee Weapons
- % Increased Global Crit Chance

My Current Gear cost me around 40exalts. You hardly need this much in your gear.
My most expensive pieces are: Lightning Coil (10ex), Amulet (7ex), Ring (6.5ex)

Is this Build Atziri Viable? If so, how do you kill her with this build?

Spoiler
Yes. I have killed her about 4 times on this build. In actual fact, my very first Atziri kill was on this build.

For the Vaals, just jump in activate them, then pop blood rage, hit one a few times with frenzy, then just Flicker all over the place. Do the same to the other one, the add's will ensure that you have Frenzy Charges.

For the Trio, try to get Max Frenzy Charges before going into the room. Aim to kill A'alai first. After that, kill them however you see fit. Remember to pop your flasks and you should be fine. Also, the degen ground does not affect you, as you will be constantly instant leeching with Vessel of Vinktar, and the Add's should keep your Frenzy Charges up. Just stay calm, and hold right click.

For Atziri, Hit her afew times with Frenzy, then Flicker all over her face. When she goes into the Add Phase, Swap in a Reave Gem instead of Flicker. Flicker is too unreliable for this fight. When the Adds stop spawning swap in Flicker again and smack her with Frenzy. Once again, just dodge her flameblasts and Flicker all over her. When she goes into Split Phase, Swap out Flicker Strike for Double Strike and Ice Bite for Faster Attacks. Try to do this quick. Just don't hit the mirror and you'll be fine. Oh also, try to dodge the flameblasts. An instant bleed and ruby flask are extremely useful here. Just keep gem swapping and the fight is actually pretty easy once you learn how to dodge. The Build is Melee, so it's obviously going to be slower than a Ranged Build.

And there you go. That's how to Kill Atziri.

This is my first guide, so if possible I'd like as much feedback as possible. If you have any questions post them here on this thread or whisper me @WingTune

Now, before you watch I must warn you that both videos have insane lag. I play on a laptop with around 30 fps and lag spikes constantly, recording made it even more laggy. Watch at your own risk :)

hi, we can not put your hatred with building
post video plz?

I'm pondering flickering builds for the new leagues and this one definitely speaks to me. Is mana regen a problem for this at all, especially with the nerf to vinktar? Was also considering trickster for 0 mana flicker strikes.
Mana regen is no problem at all. We have our innate mana regen at around 15 mana a second, 0.4% mana leech from attacks and Assassin's Marks mana gained on kill. I see no point to going to trickster just for the 0 mana. Going trickster could potentially allow another herald however I don't think the investment is worth it compared to what the Raider can give.
