Disk Space after Install - Uninstall
|
So few days ago I installed Path of Exile on a new computer that had 50gb free, after installing I think I had ~40gb free. For whatever reason I had to uninstall the next day and I noticed that the free space was 45gb even after cleaning the few left up files as well (which are a few mb anyway). Then I installed again, got down to 35gb and after uninstalling back up at 40gb. Anyone got any idea what might be causing this? I'm 99% sure there aren't any files left after uninstalling so I don't even know if those 10gb are actually taken.
Edit: Also run CCleaner which didn't help much and after finding a similar thread (wasn't about this issue) someone mentioned that uninstalls aren't 100% clean and space is wasted but having 5gb wasted out of a 10gb game is a joke if that's actually the case. There are 2 folders associated with Path of Exile if you are using the Stand-alone version (non-Steam).
One is the installation directory. By default this is the C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\ folder. The other is where the settings and things are stored which are kept in your Documents\My Games\Path of Exile folder .. where Documents is wherever you have your user profile set... C:\Users\<yourname>\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile\ or similar. After uninstall, it might not remove both of these. |

I already deleted manually both those folders after uninstalling but the installation directory had just a few log files (few mb) and the documents directory was also about 10mb which doesn't explain the 10gb space missing.

You should use a disk profiler or something similar (like du) to see what's eating the space.
Could just be temp files and coincidence with installing. |
