Ice spear and chain

I found a build with icespear and i am using it atm, but i use the skill gem chain with it.
And some say it dosent work and others say its the best..so should i replace chain with another gem on the build ?

Pierce, fork and chain are mutually exclusive (in that order): A projectile that pierces can't fork or chain; a projectile that forks can't chain.
As the first form of ice spear always pierces, linking it to chain is a bit of a waste.

Better supports are LMP/GMP (due to ice spear having no aoe), spell echo, cold penetration, increased critical damage.

Not a total waste; just less efficient as chain won't trigger versus mobs in close and mid range.

Imo ice spear's damage is bad enough without a second less multiplier. With gmp + chain you're damage is halved.

Ok thanks..ill get rid of it and throw in anything else that adds dps.
