Iron Will and Righteous fire

Does this support gem work with righteous fire?
No, RF doesn't deal spell damage.

RF gem says "spell, fire, aoe" That is not considered spell dmg?
No, having 'spell' in gem tags means that the gem is of 'spell' type, which is generally 'unrelated to your attacks in any way'. It can have 'spell' damage type and it most often does, but it doesn't have to.

RF deals damage over time, which is also one of four damage basetypes so it's exclusive with spell damage.

Funny, I just tried this combo yesterday! There is no difference in the time it takes to get from full to 1 life. As the damage to enemies is proportional to the damage you take, I would agree with raics that it isn't doing anything.

Iron Will is a nice support gem with its 100% multiplier and potential for decent damage increase, but I find it has a limited application among my characters. Not for want of trying!

That would tell you nothing because the skill has two separate parts, buff and damage. Spell damage multiplier and self-degen belong to the buff and can't be scaled with anything except 'buff effect' bonuses. The damage part can be scaled normally, with anything that affects fire, AoE, DoT or burning damage.
