[SOLVED] Detailed Investigation, Windows 10 specific stuttering issue

Hello,

I recently bought a new pc running windows 10 64 bits.

The game is a pain to play with this new computer as the fps is going wild. Every other game (Witcher 3, Skyrim, Street Fighter V, Fallout 4, Guilty Gear XRD, the old Dark Messiah, etc.) run perfectly fine with the highest graphics settings.

I made a comparison with my older computer which is extremely similar, the only difference being the OS (windows 8 vs windows 10) and the graphic card (nvidia Geforce 840 vs 980).

Here is the full comparison indicating that the problem is most likely caused by windows 10:

1) COMPUTER 1:
[System]
OS: Windows 8 64 bit (latest update)
Graphic Card: nvidia geforce 840

[Ingame]
Latency: 50ms very stable
Network Mode: LOCKSTEP
Gateway: London (EU)
Graphic Options:
- Post Processing OFF
- VSync ON
- Everything else LOWEST or OFF, Shadow: LOW

Perfectly playable, no lag sensation.

1) COMPUTER 2:
[System]
OS: Windows 10 64 bit (latest update)
Graphic Card: nvidia geforce 980

[Ingame]
Latency: 50ms very stable
Network Mode: LOCKSTEP
Gateway: London (EU)
Graphic Options:
- Post Processing OFF
- VSync ON
- Everything else LOWEST or OFF, Shadow: LOW

A pain to play. With VSYNC OFF FPS goes to 250 with the same variations, very noticeable stuttering and instant FPS drop some times (very quick goes to 10 and back to 200). Frequent FPS drop (instant drop) as well with VSYNC ON.

NOT related to network issue according to ingame graph, SAME issue with predictive mode ON.

NVIDIA CONFIGURATION:
Exactly the same on the two computer.

I tried to fix FPS to 60 on the second computer with nvidia inspector but it does not change anything.

Thus it seems that Windows 10 is the source of the issue.

The only game in the same situation is Hearthstone. Works on COMPUTER 1 but issues on COMPUTER 2.

For the time being I will keep playing on my older computer.

Recently a lot of similar issues have been posted it seems to correspond with the "forced" windows 10 upgrade. I think GGG should look into it, if I didn't have my older computer I would have stopped playing the game until issue solved.

EDIT, ADDITIONAL INFO: Tried to uninstall/install the game, issue not solved. Also tried to uninstall/clean install drivers, issue not solved.

Cropped pictures to show ingame graphs:

I don't know if it would be a help or not but...
Try shutting off the indexing service in Win10.

Holy shit. It seems that I managed to solve the issue with the dumbest solution.

I just tried to run the game in compatibility mode for windows 8. It seems to run perfectly fine now.

@IlluminaBlade thanks for the answer, I will have a look to this service
Did you try to disable compatibility mode again and reproduce the issue?

I am highly skeptical about four findings. ;)
Perception is reality.
I will say that while shutting down the indexing service may work for some of it, the game will pretty much always stutter in town every time someone ports in with new MTX's and effects because they are not all preloaded.

This is something they are working on but you are really going to be waiting for a x64 bit client...either that or using a ram drive.
