2.1 Scion Molten Strike "Undying" Facetank

Before 2.1 launched, I had started putting together a tanky build. My goal was to make a build that could facetank *any* of the story bosses. I mostly succeeded in that goal.

If you play this build well, you will not die, nearly regardless of what you are fighting. The one, massive downside of this build is that its DPS and, therefore, clear-speed is sub-par and that can not be remedied without either expensive gear or sacrificing defense from the talent tree. You'll have to see the video and see for yourself if it is too slow for your tastes.

A note about Resolute Technique: this is a give or take, depending on if you think the accuracy is needed. I currently do not use RT.

Jewel choice is up to whatever you can find that suites the stats best.
You MUST help Oak in all three difficulties to get the most synergy out of this build.

GEAR:
Five links are required on the chest piece. A Tabula Rasa is an easy way to go for quite a while. A 5 or 6 link high rolled rare is the best option. A Lightning Coil is a good option, once 5Led.

On the gloves, helm, and boots, the stats you need are all the same: life, armor, and some resists, except get movement speed on the boots as well. Any of those armours you can get with damage bonuses will help DPS a lot.

For belt, same as above but this is where you really want to stack up those damage bonuses.

For rings, you want damage bonuses, resistance, and life.

On the amulet, stack loads of +all attributes, life, and damage.

The shield is straightforward: life and armor. Anything else is a bonus.

For the weapon... I advise some kind of claw or other fast attack weapon with the life gain on hit implicit mod.

2nd 3-L: Herald of Ash + Flame Golem + Minion Life OR Minion and Totem Elemental Resistance
6L Chest Piece: Molten Strike + GMP + Multistrike + Fortify + LGOH + (your choice of DPS support gem; I am currently stacking LMP on top of GMP for lulz)

FLASKS:
I use a Life of Staunching, Granite of Iron Skin, Sapphire of Heat, Ruby of Dousing, and Atziri's Promise. I also carry a Topaz of Grounding in my inventory for Piety and other nasties.

I have not leveled this enough to be confident in taking it to Atziri (tbh, I have never done Atziri solo; I usually bring my aurabot (future build video and forum post on that); so I am taking it slow with this one). To answer your question, though, I believe this build will solo Atziri no problem. The main thing holding it back is getting a 5 or 6 link chest piece to bring up that life/defense a little more. RNG has not been kind to me lately and I wasted what few fuses I had left just trying to 5L. Never RNG links... never...

Also, thanks for the interest! Like I said, I set out with this build trying to make something tanky that is also very cheap. There are so many true facetank builds out there, but they always require x, y, z gear and usually a 6L.

As you may see I am currently using your build, I am new so I don't have much gear yet, but I have died like 5 times only and mostly be cause my pc is a potato and sometimes lags =p.

My current problem is that I had some problems finding a new claw or weapon, be cause the good ones Ilvl 55+ ask for 100+ intellect and I am struggling to get that, I was wondering if there is any recommendation you could give me?

First, sorry for not getting back with you. I do not come to the forums very often. I assume by now you have progressed further, but I go ahead and reply to let you know that I have progressed this build into a full, dedicated tank just for the hell of it. Atziri, Crematorium boss, Malachai, etc, all easy to do now.

I will be making a new thread and video about it in the next couple of weeks because it has seen some drastic changes. I will be bumping this thread to let you know when that happens. I'm afraid I will not be able to answer anybody's questions if they want to do a DPS version of this build, however.
