Notice Board/MMO-Aspects thoughts

Hi Guys,
I've been playing for > 800h on Steam and the first few hours I got were during Beta-Stresstest whoknowshowmany years ago (the 800+ everyone can look up). I don't claim to be a pro gamer in any way and because of that after many more than 1k hours spent totally I only have 1(!) complaint about the game and i'd like to offer an easy solution for that problem: Problem: "Noticeboard only has WTS and WTB stuff on it" I don't say that's bad, like the other threads do, i really do accept it as part of the game and even if i wouldn't ever post something there, i got some good sales of it... in my oppinion it's ok, and it's not possible to turn that off, even if we would get 300 (exaggerated) boards... but i think there's an easier solution: I'd like to see 4 buttons + 1 Textbox on the boards. Overall it would be 1 Textbox like in the Stash for filter and 4 buttons "buy" "sell" "looking for group" "offering group" that would automatically put the filters for "wtb" "wts" "lfg" "ofg" in the filter, with the 5th option to enter a string you want to filter (->stash) From that you could go as far as making the "Create Public" Button into "offer" or "request", but that's going to far. I know my "solution" is not a real solution and i know there is no BIG problem to start with, but i think my idea could make zhe game more viable to "random group play" and could take the game a step from the trading based (mostly) good community to a game based (even better) community :) This thread has been automatically archived. Agreed.
After months of time away, I come back to nothing at all on the noticeboard now. Before I took time out there were at least a page of groups doing content. In 3 days I have seen no groups posted at all. People in general tell me that the notice board "doesn't work properly anymore". I cannot play this game solo, it is very depressing. If other games can have a queueing system, I don't see why this game cannot intelligently put people into the same difficult/ACT that their character is on at the time they wish to join a queue to do this. This is killing the community for me and as a result I just can't look at it. I cannot do the same content over and over again without live companionship. If Diablo can do queues efficiently, why cant we here? Thanks. |

A flag on the group type when created would be a pretty low-tech solution that would massively increase the value of the notice board.
Already we can select loot type (PA/short etc.). An additional flag for WTB/WTS/Kill monsters (relatively few flags would cover the majority of party types in practice) could be set when you create a party, then the familiar description field already in use. The noticeboard could have a menu to display just WTB, then just WTS, then just Kill Mobs. It would be a nice RPG touch to have the majority of adventurers/exiles clustered around the notice board seeking their next trip out of town :) Edit: A drop-down menu is a lot less work for GGG than multiple buttons on the UI, particularly if more party types were to be implemented in future, perhaps with specific party types in leagues (warband hunting etc.) Last edited by Gauhron#1846 on Feb 11, 2016, 4:20:47 AM

all that is needed is a checkbox that, once enabled, let's the terms in the text field work as a filter to filter the terms out.
one could just enter: "wtb" "wts" to not display all parties containing these words in their title. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

it's fun the way it is and I've met a couple good players using the public party board. However I do agree a filter is required, not just a search function. Being able to filter out all WTB and WTS crap on the public party board would lead to a healthier partying community like it used to be when the boards first came out.
Public parties are just that, public parties. Why roll your own maps and waste currency ? There are plenty of T13+ public parties you can join and help the party ( which is usually just one player ) clear the zone they are in. Remember to turn off /dnd after and thank the player that hosted the public party. Sometimes they are unhappy douche nozzels, I guess they don't know what public means. Other times they are in good spirits, say, "you are welcome" and ask if you want to run another map. echo "The world is full of smart people" |sed -e 's/smart people/sheep/'
