Screen flashing black every so often ***FIXED***

First off this is the only game this happens to.
I use windows 8
The steam version of PoE
Gtx880m that is up to date
I run the game in Admin
Nvidea control panel has the game set to use the 880m
Even deleted Nividea Gforce Experiance

The game flashes black then back to the game, it flickers back and forth.
Its very bad in the main menue and especialy bad in areas with special effects like currupted zones or koams dream (flashes more frequently and stays black longer).

Some times it flashes on the first loading screen then plays the menue music and will not bring up the menue until I alt tab out then tab back in to the game.

When fiddling with the settings if I turn on post processing the game crashes.

It also says it is useing my intergrated card and the box is greyed out, although the proformance of the game sudjests it is actualy using my dedicated card becuase it is playing very smooth just flashing black every so often.

Any simular problems or fixes. I have been searching with no solid answers.
Hope to get this fixed before this next race season!

Same issue. I'm a hc player only, when i can play my favourite game again? Have different types of graphic issues for like 2 months.

I have looked through that thread a couple times and nothing has helped so far.
I'm going to take another close look at that thread

The typical solution in that thread is to change the name from client.exe to poe.exe. I do not belive it is relevant to Steam users because it is listed as pathofexilesteam.exe. So with that steam name for the client I doubt its getting getting mixed up with some other games profile.

Nvidea Inspector says my Lappy is running nice and cool whist using the gtx880m graphics card, dispite what the settings say (the greyed out intergrated card).


I do think I have made some progress with the Inspector. I went into the profile for PoE in the Inpector and found an optimus setting. I changed the optimus setting to "SHIM_MCCOMPAT_USER_EDITABLE". This got rid of the flashing black screen issue.
Only problem is now the game actualy runs like it is using the intergrated card, my FPS is crippled.

I will explore this further and report back if the results are good.

******SOLVED FOR NOW*****

Last few things I did I reinstalled Nvidea Experiance updated it and optomised PoE

Went back into Nvidea Inspector and reverted all my settings but added an FPS cap at 120fps (probably unrealted to issue)

What fixed the game supprisingly......drum roll......

I changed the screen from Fullscreen to Borderless Fullscreen. Thats it.

My intergrated card is still greyed out in the graphics options but that does not matter because I can tell PoE is running like a champ on my dedicated. My Fps is smooth and I have no black screen flashes.

Spread the word its worth a try if you are having the black screen flashing problem.
