[Suggestion] Turn off XP gain!

I like to soft-cap out around 90 or so - however, because I am so awesome at the game, I often find myself not dying in maps very often. This causes an issue because my XP bar will creep over the 50% line occasionally and I find myself suddenly protective of my gains.

This has the effect of making me more careful with my map rolling and playstyle, somewhat limiting the fun and effectiveness of my game time.

As a remedy, I would like to suggest that we have a flag option in the character menu that stops XP gain - as such, we can prevent ourselves from gaining XP from killing monsters (losing XP still possible of course if we die), so we don't have the horrible temptation to continue leveling.

Now, I know some of you will say "Why not just die a few times?", and that is a perfectly reasonable response, and frankly I'm not interested in arguing with reasonable people.

^ errr... mmmm... eeeee... yes, why not.

+ add a char downgrade like we have for skill gems:
-> lvl 100 char + any orb = lvl 1 char with 20% quality
-> any char lvl + scour = char lvl -1
-> any char lvl + regret = char lvl back to 1

hope we can vendor our chars in the future.

nait for president, best idea ever.
Have a problem with something I said? PM goetzjam don't derail a thread.

Help Charan color the board - use [u color] to make your posts shine.
As a reasonable person i am offended by this thread.

Well done.

edit : you would have gotten bonus points if you used "gains" instead of gain though.

There's something to this... sacrificing exp gain for something else. Not sure the best way to implement it. It would also be an auto-choice for level 100 characters as they don't gain experience any longer anyway.

In this case shags, I don't think any sort of gameplay benefit should be attached to it as the prime beneficiary would be MF characters, farmers, and (potentially) bots.

It would simply operate as a flag to stop XP gain, to lower the amount of significant mental stress placed on players like myself.

Nah... stress is good for you. We play these games to have a certain amount of stress/release.

I actually need this feature for other reasons

I like to build low level lock twinks.

*perhaps if GGG make level lock character feature, those low level rares with good mod rolls, low level unique may finally be useful again.

Come on GGG, u want us to have more characters build versatility? This is one of them.
Now that I think about it it has some other advantages:

http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Drop_Rate#Drop_Penalty
Farming Divination Cards can be hard with the Drop Penalty.

And there is the level cap for Sarn Arenas, what if I want to play a bit more but without going above level 28 (normal) or ...whatever the cap in cruel is?
1. there is red flag at 0% of every level

o we don't have the horrible temptation to continue leveling.

2. Sorry PoE like any other game need players so temptation continue leveling will stay here.
