XP for level level 20 gems

Since gems earn XP at 10% of toon XP then total gem XP X 10 = total earned XP for level 20 gems. I sampled a few gems and it looks like that number is around 340,000,000. Multiply by 10 = 3,400,000,000 total or the equivalent of character level 97 (assuming no deaths along the way).

Please correct me if I am wrong so I am not posting wrong information.

I don't know how mich experience a player needs to reach certain levels, but i've reached level 20 gems as early 82 if I was doing higher level maps. Gems don't get hit with an expereience penalty. They don't get 10% of player experience, they get 10% of the experience monsters give. Which can be the same thing if the player manages to always get 100% of the experience a monster gives.

Right, that's the main reason, by the time you reach 2 billion experience your gems will have 400k and reach level 20. Though, it won't really happen by the time you reach level 82 anymore unless if you did a crapload of docks/lake farming, they increased the amount needed to level 20 in 2.0. I've levelled a char recently that would probably be around 90 if it didn't die as much and it still has a way to go until his gems max out.

I 20ed my gems around lvl 88 this league. Not a whole lot of lower content but certainly some. Speed clearing lake is a nice break from sweating dangerous mods.

I totally forgot to factor in the XP penalty. Thank you for all of the responses!

Level 81 now and my frost blade is 1/4 towards level 20. After that will need to upgrade quality to level 20 and do it all over again. So about 82/83 should get a level 20 gems. Then repeat again after upgrading.

88/89 is more likely. ;)
