Noob - Supporter Packs.. Worth it? & Other
|
This is my first post and I am fairly new to PoE however I was insta-hooked and am loving the game so far. I was / am considering supporting but during my travels on the google I have seen some opinions that previous supporter packs are better (and presumably they come back every once in awhile?) so what says you people?
Should I buy a tier, or wait for a better set of supporter packs (if new ones ever come?) While I am already posting I might as well ask other question(s) as well. I am using a witch dual flame totem build that was posted on this forum (not the crit build) and have made it to level 60 so far, and am having a lot of fun, but part of me wonders if there is something I would like even better out there. Can someone point me in the direction of any 'must have' builds to try? Best bang for my buck type deals (as in most powerful for least effort/cost) Thanks! Hoping to make some friends here so if anyone wants to BS with me send me a msg :) *Edit to add* If it makes a difference, I am considering the Lunaris tier. Would love Highgate, but DAMN. It would end with me getting divorced. Oh also. Is this game going to be around for years and year hopefully? Is the game profitable? Last edited by Xexist#3611 on Sep 10, 2015, 3:42:08 PM

If you're gonna buy shop points, anyway, Supporter packs are the best way to go. You get the points plus some pretty nice bonuses, for just a tad more than buying plain points packs. And, if all you've bought have been plain points, you can upgrade to a Supporter pack later, getting some credit from your earlier purchase.
As for whether what's in the current packs is worth it is pretty subjective, but you're in for a bit of a wait if you'd rather see what's coming in the next set. Prolly the easiest build, and quite survivable, would be a summoner build. You can start with Witch, or with Templar. Not everyone likes commanding an army, but I really enjoy it. Zombies are my primary troops, skeletons my shock troops (because you can cast them anywhere, even behind enemy lines, and, with the Minion Instability node, they are effective bombs when they die), and Spectres for specialist troops. Gear isn't hard to come by; even the basic uniques can be had pretty cheaply, and the only must-have is a piece of +1/+2 minions headgear. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/ whiskers =@[.]@= boggled / =>[.]<= annoyed or angry / ='[.]'= concerned / =0[.]o= confuzzled / =-[.]-= sad or sleepy / =*[.]*= dazzled / =^[.]~= wink / =~[.]^= naughty wink / =9[.]9= rolleyes #FourYearLie Last edited by Raycheetah#7060 on Sep 10, 2015, 3:44:13 PM

As someone who only owns 2 supporter packs, I honestly think it's a personal preference thing... Supporting is exactly that, supporting. If you want to support then you should be happy with your purchase. What you get is exactly outlined really clearly on the pack page, so it really comes down to what your financial situation is, how much you want/are able to give and if you like the effects. There probably will be other packs, but unless you are planning on picking up the $1000+ pack, I feel like what I got from the first pack I got and the most recent was pretty similar (I took a break in between so other people may feel differently about this).
Nothing in a supporter pack is at all necessary to play so this is really a personal decision for you. I will say that with the points I got from my first supporter pack I purchased nearly 30 stash tabs and that is a well-worth purchase in my opinion if you're going to be playing this long term (especially if you are a pack-rat like me). |

Support as you like and you can upgrade from there if your situation permits.

" 1. Supporter packs are limited-time, and don't get reused, so the older packs you mentioned will not come around again; if you like what is in the current packs, I would recommend picking one up (you can message Support and set up a payment plan if you'd like, they are very accommodating). 2. New support packs typically come out with the bigger updates/expansions, so I would expect new ones probably in ~3-4 months; GGG will give ample warning for when the current ones will be phased out. 3. I really like Incinerate builds; there are many really good, cheap, powerful ones on the class fora. 4. Feel free to add me in-game; IGN is "RulerofAsgard" - I don't mind answering questions and offering help if it's needed. 5. The game is indeed profitable (GGG recently moved on up to a bigger office building, with room to expand, so at current pace, we can expect them to last quite a while). Hi There,
Welcome to Path of Exile! While we can't really suggest one way or another what may be worth it to you, it may be worth mentioning that we do have a system in place where you can upgrade point packs into Supporter Packs at a later date. Our 'Buy Packs' page has been updated to automatically credit any eligible purchases after the 20th of April, 2015 towards reducing the cost of your Supporter Pack purchases. This means that any supporter packs purchased through the “Buy Packs” part of our website will take into account previous purchases (up to 80% of the cost of the pack), and will offer you the option to upgrade any eligible previous purchases into the higher tier packs for lesser amounts. This means that should you choose to simply buy a plain point pack now, you can use this to upgrade to a Supporter Pack later for a lower amount if you change your mind and want to have a Supporter Pack later. We sincerely hope that you're happy with whichever decision you make! If you ever have any questions, you can always email us directly at support@grindinggear.com as well. " Im just heading back to work from lunch now. I think I will take the plunge and get the Lunaris pack. Then my first points purchase will be for that awesome ghost flame for my flame totem. Then some stash space! |

Be aware that you may not receive the t-shirt or graphic novel that is supposed to be included with the pack...
Source: Purchased Vaal Pack over 2 months ago and still no shirt... Tis why I haven't upgraded to Lunaris yet. To all the girls in the red high-heeled shoes,
they took all our money and stole all our boos. They ain't got their cherries, but that's no sin, they still got the box the cherry came in! |

" I appreciate the heads up, but frankly both of those are the least of what I was interested in (though if its part of the package you definitely should be getting it (or some compensation in extra points or something) good luck getting yours. |
