Changing resolution in windowed fullscreen

Is there a way to set the resolution used when in windowed fullscreen? It is grayed out for me. I have seen an option for setting the resolution when in windowed fullscreen available in other games.

I have 3 monitors and use nvidia surround to stretch my desktop across all three monitors. Some of the games that I play I want to use all 3 monitors together in a maximum resolution, but other games I only want to play on a single monitor (including PoE). If I use fullscreen and set the resolution to a single monitor, I end up with the other two monitors being completely unused (I also have to alt tab out of the game to do anything on the other monitors). The closest I can get right now is just using windowed mode and maximizing the window which only maximizes to 1 monitor as per my nvidia settings, but then I have the border on the window. My only options right now are to play in windowed or switch back and forth between surround displays and single display in my nvidia settings which is tedious due to it requiring me to close out of most programs.

Hi there!

Thank you for posting this request. In this instance, you are able to manually set your display preferences in the production_config.ini file usually located in your My Games folder (\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile).

Please open this file in your preferred text editor, then use the ctrl+f function to search for the keyphrase 'resolution'. This will have a base value of resolution_height=600 resolution_width=800.

Once changed to your preferred resolution, please also ensure that your fullscreen option is set to false in the same file, and save.

On a less technical note, you are able to manually drag / resize the games window when you have enabled windowed mode. I hope this information proves to be helpful.

I have these settings in that file:

borderless_windowed_fullscreen=true
fullscreen=false
resolution_height=1200
resolution_width=1920

This doesn't make a difference. The resolution when I start the game still ends up as 5760x1200 stretching across all three monitors.

I don't have an issue with windowed mode, just with windowed full screen mode.

I noticed that I can go to full screen mode, change the resolution, then switch to windowed full screen, and it keeps the resolution, but it ends up on my leftmost monitor instead of my center monitor. Also, when I do this, it isn't saved between closing and reopening the game. This also doesn't work every time.

I have a similiar problem.
I have 2 monitors, 2560x1440 and 1920x1080. The 2560 is my primary but I want to play on the 1920 because it is the gaming monitor. After much fiddling, The game works fine in Fullscreen, or Windowed, BUT no amount of fiddling in Windowed Fullscreen can get it to use anything other than 2560x1440 on the 1920x1080 monitor. This is obviously unplayable as it stretches past the edge of the screen... This is very frustrating, and causes me to not be able to play in Windowed Fullscreen at all. It keeps trying to use the resolution of my primary monitor, and setting the resolution switches in the .ini config file does not apply to "Windowed Fullscreen" mode at all.

Have we given up on this? I like to play windowed fullscreen, but it's become impossible because of this issue to play in the correct resolution? Fix coming ever?

i'm waiting for a solution too.
Cant really play until this is sorted out :/.
was working great before i got a 4k monitor but now the game feels like its running at 20fps(game says 150-200+) no matter what setting i pick. i have a i7 6700k and a gtx 1080 still i cant even run this game... If i go to fullscreen and pick another resolution everything is fine. But since 50% of this game goes on in a web browser its just not possible to play in FC.

Don't know if the information is still usefull to you (the post is quite old, sorry if this is considered necroposting). The way that I was able to solve this problem is simply by setting my primary monitor to the one I want to use with PoE.

To do this:
Right Click on your Desktop>Personalize
Select the monitor on which you want PoE to run windowed fullscreen
Check "make this my primary"
This is just not on, over a year since birth of the thread and no plausable fix. my screen constantly is not forcing 1280x1024 that the .ini says it does and matches the settings for the supposed fix detailed.
