Bosses in corrupted maps no longer dropping sacrifice fragments?
|
Prior to 2.0.2, killing a boss in a corrupted map had a very high chance of yielding a sacrifice fragment.
Since 2.0.2, I have run half a dozen corrupted maps without seeing a single sacrifice fragment dropping. Was this changed intentionally (if so, was it announced anywhere?), or is this a bug? This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

i've ran more than 6 and not seen anything, you were lucky....now RNG has decided to shit on you, if you want a near guaranteed fragments run corrupted zones(i.e the ones found on normal areas or via using a fragment in the map device)

Well, would you mind sharing your actual data pre/post patch? If my data could easily be explained with "Rng", I wouldn't have started the thread.
In the three weeks prior to 2.0.2, I ran about 20 corrupted maps and only 1 or 2 of them didn't drop a fragment (if at all, I may be misremembering those). On a corrupted Museum or Bazaar map with twinned bosses (i.e., 6 bosses on the map), I always got 3-4 fragments. Every single time. Since 2.0.2, I haven't seen a single sacrifice drop from about 8 corrupted maps now. While this _could_ of course be an extreme case of random fluctuations, my data currently suggests that it is not. Hence this thread. If you have data from the same time span (three weeks prior to 2.0.2 til now) to share, please do. @Lagwin: Been there, did that. However, finding corrupted zones was, in my experience, tedious and very inefficient compared to corrupting twinned 3-boss maps, or running maps from a corrupted carto. You have to run a lot more than 8 maps to get any remotely useful statistical data.
Are you getting any vaal gems? Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN> Play Nice and Show Some Class www.theamazonbasin.com Last edited by mark1030#3643 on Aug 22, 2015, 8:26:09 PM

" Please, what is your actual proficiency with statistics? You do know what p values and significance levels are? Have you run any actual calculations on my data to arrive at that conclusion, or are you just intuitively assuming that "small sample sizes can't be significant"? Even if you have two samples as distinct as those? (One sample with 18 tests resulting in at least one drop and max. 2 tests without one, vs. a second sample with 8 tests resulting in no drop and none with a drop.) I'm sorry if this sounds offensive (I don't mean it to), but statements like "you need more data" are often used by people with a very basic and ... let's say "intuitive" understanding of statistics. As everyone who had solid training with statistics (and the maths behind them) can tell you, small samples can of course be statistically significant _if_ the two samples' values deviate from each other sufficiently (plus some other factors), and there are tests that determine how much. My own statistics are a bit rusty, but if you see a way how the described samples would _not_ succeed a statistical test of significance, please show me how you calculated that exactly, I'd be interested. Sorry for the rant. It just kinda gets me when people just throw general statistical assumptions around without (apparently) a clear understanding of the parameters. " No. I have never gotten a single vaal gem from a map. I know that the wiki mentions the possibility, but fact of the matter is, in the time span I'm talking about I have never gotten a vaal gem from a corrupted map boss, but almost _always_ gotten a sacrifice. I was simply curious whether things have changed, since my data sample (small as it is) strongly suggests that they have. I also see a possibility that the sacrifice drop was simply bugged for a few weeks (the time when I was almost guaranteed a drop) and has now been "fixed". But in order to check that, I would need other people's observations from the same time span. Just getting a one-word "Rng" reply or a general "you need more data" statement without context does not help in any way, I'm afraid. Last edited by Psyringe#7951 on Aug 22, 2015, 9:53:33 PM

Update:
I just got a Sacrifice drop from a Canyon boss. Yay! :) So it doesn't seem to be broken. Drop rates may have changed between the patches, I'll try to keep an eye on the drops. I'm still interested in checking whether I got just incredibly lucky for a few weeks, and then suddenly completely unlucky for a few days, or if there are others that experienced the same. If anyone ran corrupted maps in the respective timespan, please share your observations. :) |

I've run plenty of corrupted maps the past few days and I got fragments. Not on all of them of course...but it was well within the normal range.
You just hit an unlucky streak (and I have hit those as well). "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning."

" Thanks for sharing! :) From your experience, what would you say is the chance for a sacrifice to drop from a corrupted map boss? (The main thing that made me wonder was that it seemed almost 100% for me for a while, and then suddenly dropped to zero right after 2.0.2 hit. Could be coincidence of course, but still worth comparing findings with others.) Also, on a side note, have you observed sacrifice drop rate changes between map levels? I noticed that most of the maps that didn't give me sacrifice drops after 2.0.2, were very low level. (I found a carto soon after upgrading to 2.0.2, corrupted it, and ran the low-level maps first). This most probably is indeed just a random fluctuation, but might be worth checking. The reason I'm interested in this is that (to me) it seemed like a very easy way to get to Atziri - corrupt a twinned 3-boss map, hope it doesn't reroll the map, get almost always 4 sacrifices out of it, chain corrupted areas (which apparently always yield a sacrifice when you enter them through the map device, I never got a skill gem from running dozens of sacrifices) until you get any sacrifices you are missing (i.e. midnights), go to Atziri, repeat. It worked reliably for me before, so I hope it still does - I guess I'll find out. :) Last edited by Psyringe#7951 on Aug 22, 2015, 11:25:56 PM

I have the same problem with fragments drop rates after 2.02. Seems to be intentional or some sort of bug.
