Chaos resistance ring vendor recipe won't work

the recipe using and obviously an orb of augmentation isn't working using this ring, I used the recipe a few times till i got a high enough roll, i then used an orb of augmentation to give it a new mod (the 2-4 damage) but it wasn't what I was after so wanted to roll it again but it's just offering me scraps and no ring, if there's any more info you need I'm happy to try and help.

There's a cap to how many times you use a rwcipe? What's the amount?

Depends the recipe, and sometimes the ingredients.
boots + quicksilver caps at 30% movespeed weapon + granite/ruby/sapphire/topaz caps at tier 2 (if you use a tier 1, it drops all the way back down) ring/amulet + amethyst caps depending the tier of the ring/amulet (i've seen 27% and 30% so far) |
