"Poe Popularity" EVOLUTION THROUGH THE YEARS [Infographic Inside]

A high number of views or cliks on announcements can be interpreted as "HYPE" or "EXCITEMENT".

Let's see what are the top numbers of views in this little inforgrpahic http://s14.postimg.org/4m2pw804x/EVO2.jpg

It seems that "Items filters" has the top record of views in 2015. A simple quality of life feature.
The announcement with the biggest number of views was the Forsaken Masters

Looks like PoE hype was lower in 2015 than 2014

Of course, because the only way (and most accurate) way to measure hype is "view counts".

No need to factor variables like:
- Thread selection
- Discussion evolution inside the thread
- How many views each person gave
- etc
"Views" shouldn't be mistaken for "players". If you view a thread 100 times, the thread gets 100 views even though you're just one person.

An announcement with information in it that you'll refer back to time and time again will get more views than one that you read once and you're good.

Are you saying you needed to re-read the forsaken masters announcement more times than you needed to read 2.0's?

I wonder if that's true. There are certain threads I refer to time and again (Map Management, Unique List, etc.). If each view is counted as a unique view, I'd expect threads like those to be closer to the top of the lists.

Those longer ones make a lot of trips to the top of the forum thread list, since it's default sorted by last post, increasing the number of page-one results and consequently number of views (casual or otherwise), I'd expect.
Man your graph is too small to read on my phone.

Regardless thread views /= popularity. Comments might serve as a good indication of popularity, but that still doesn't address if the popularity is because of good feedback or bad.

Steamcharts tells a very different story from you analysis. Obviously most people don't use steam to play PoE. But I trust the trends it shows more than using view counts from different threads.

I heard of this game the first time in mid-2014 along with many friends, all we started playing eachother but only 3 were playing from original 7, in our case we have more 50% drop in december 2014.
When ask to them why, the answer it's the same, there is no way to advance in game, leveling it's to painful, good items are to expensive and never drop, no matters how many hours you play.

Doesn't really prove much, but interesting data nonetheless.

I'd be more interested in number of people actually playing the game, but I guess we don't have access to that data.

Every Saturday = National Booze n Poe Day
Interesting, would have thought Awakening got more views than Masters. I guess GGG really screwed the pooch with the blue balls hype build up for a 2.0 closed beta countdown.
