2 hand Microtransactions issue

Hey i just bought me the runic blade weapon effect and would use it on my 2hand axe.
But the effect only change the weapon skin and not the animation. So the weapon now has an sword skin and uses axe animations.. that looks a bit ugly
Is that normal??
