2.X Dual Wield Block & Riposte Build Ideas? Example Starter Tree Provided

Hi, I'm real curious if a dual wield Riposte based build would work.

http://cb.poedb.tw/us/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAwQBAAYAXgHcAhEDJwOHBS0FtQguCVgNjRHVFfYZjhutIWAi6iPTI_Yk_SmlKjgwfDIBNZI17zrhOu1DMUSeRNJHfkp9SshM_02STeNOKlFHU7tXl1uvXkVei185YEFh62J5YqxjcGVNZ4BnoGyMbbRuqm8ndO108XfjeA16U3rvfXWBQYO9hNmHdorwjX2Nv5LzlWaaapsmmy2bjZ2qo4qj56ZXqAepbrCrshm0xbXyuR29Nr6nv9XAGsFJwYvC7MM6xILI3M96037T_NRS2L3awdun3efjn-dU6Nbtg-4O73rv4_JF-uv8xf4K_h3-j_66_94=

With that build you get 15% base + 21% extra Block while Dual Wielding + 50% Block Recovery, and a bunch of dual wield dps boosts. By the very end of the build you'd have 202% bonus life to go with that.

As far as active skills, you'd have to tell me which ones would suit this passive set up the best, because I don't know crap about melee.

The only real observation I had is that you can't take Dodge in a Block build, and that losing the 40%~ bonus Evasion from Dex by taking Iron Reflexes is really OK in the grand scheme of things since the build generates another 260% bonus on your Evasion to feed into IR anyway.

The reason you want Iron Reflexes in a Block / Riposte-centric build (if this would even be viable at all) is because both Evasion and Dodge roll before Block, so if you are counting on Riposte helping you kill monsters and generate HP through life Steal and Vaal Pact... You need to let that 36% Block chance happen and hope your Armor & Resists (42% vs. all base) carry you through everything that isn't Blocked.

Much as I would like to do a Strength based Dual Wield Block build, you just can't. DW Blocking and most DW talents in general are all in the Dex area of the passive tree.

So is this just a pipe dream? I figure since Riposte hits with both weapons when dual wielding that it could outright kill 36% of the trash monsters that attack you all by itself, and heal you while doing so. Maybe if I wanted a reactive block build though it would be better go with a Shield and the Shield bash on block skill instead?

A suggestion for your build would be to play with a main hand skill, like Ice Crash which is excellent with swords, and use an Ungil's Gauche in offhand, especially if you play on permanent leagues where you can get a legacy one to boost your block chance by a lot.
Especially since you can corrupt 6% dual wield block as an implicit on it, that's a total of 18% dual-wield block for non-legacy and 26% for legacy version, which is an awful lot of block.

In my opinion, going for dual-wield block is only worth it if you're using items to scale it much higher, because 36% is not enough ; block really gets interesting when you reach 50+ %, considering the more you get, the more effective the next % of block chance become :)
Very Interesting idea, However im not sure you have enough block to carry you the way you want.
