chancing shavronne's wrappings?

now that infernal mantle is a widowsilk robe is shavronne's wrappings the only unique occultist's vestment? need a confirmation on this.

if so it's probably worth using chance orbs on those white vestments.

this misconception is why the infernal mantle was moved, but ultimately having 2 (or more) uniques sharing the same base item does not in ANY way affect your odds of getting a particular unique item either via drop or chance.

The odds of getting shavronne's wrappings are the same now as they were when infernal mantle shared the same base item, which is also the same odds as before infernal mantle existed.

As for the odds themselves, they are low. the price of a given item will normally stabilize at a value a bit less than what it takes to craft it on average. take 40 exalts and divide that by the cost of (scouring + chance) and you have a very rough idea of what your odds are to chance it. If the odds were significantly higher than that result, then the price of wrappings would drop.

(yes theres other factors like time yadda yadda its a rough estimate not an exact science).

I thought it was like 50% to go troll mantle and 50% to Shavronne.
Proceeding from there, 0.001% to get trollmantle and 0.00001% to get Shavronne.
I'm wrong all the time.

your probably right on the 0.0001 part. prior to infernal it would have been 0.0001 for shav's. with infernal sharing the item it still would have been 0.0001 per chance to get shavs, but 0.01 for infernal.

But because people *thought* they had just failed to get a shavs (instead of failing to get a magic which they would have).

I'm probably wrong, but iirc when rolling unique items, the game says "this drop will be unique" then takes the odds for available uniques and picks one. It does not say "we're dropping an onyx amulet that will be unique, now lets roll which unique onyx amulet it will be"

It has to roll rarity first then base or they'd have very poor control over drop rates.

The only thing moving infernal mantle affects is chance/scouring a well linked white vestment.

i'm not going to scour and chance an occultist's vestment. i will just chance the white ones i find. they drop very often. using a scouring orb is a waste.
