Desert Map Boss
|
I want to thank whoever at GGG designed this boss: it is my absolute favourite boss in the game!
He'd be a pretty annoying slog of a boss if he didn't have his tells to indicate which is the real one. Since you can see him using mirror/blink arrow, both where he shot and where he was standing, you can narrow which could possibly be the boss down to two... assuming you are concentrating. From these there's the obvious tell that many people have picked up on from fighting him, as well as Nightwane: the real boss is the only one that will walk. There's also that the clones act a bit differently when "aiming" compared to the boss. And then there's the one that gives him away every time, as long as you're paying extremely close attention: I'm not going to indicate that one here since players don't seem to have picked up on it. While you're trying to constantly keep track of where he's potentially going to blink/mirror arrow and look for these tells, you simultaneously need to be avoiding the attacks from the clones. This creates a fairly hectic fight that demands you to remain calm and focus (so long as you're not playing a tanky character): like playing a game of poker, but everyone else at the table is trying to shoot you. And since the Nightwane boss in Dried Lakes fights the same way, but is limited to only one clone of himself, you are given the opportunity to learn the mechanics of the Desert boss fight in a much simpler setting, outside of maps, that just so happens to be in a zone great for repeated farming. Maybe this was all totally unintentional, but it just comes together so well into a unique boss requiring a unique type of skill to efficiently beat with sufficiently available opportunity to learn the fight first. Huge props! This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

His mechanics are not that bad, but the balance should be on par with the other L68 map bosses.
For that, he hits too hard, and got WAY to much HP... I wonder if GGG did a typo... They meant to give him 100.000 HP, but accidentally put a '0' extra on and made it 1.000.000... The more serious problem with this map is that mobs are so sparse, and the area (while smaller than most other maps) seems empty. There's no point in running a map with few mobs and a very tough boss. The rewards are not worth it. |

" i have around 20k pure aoe dps (should be great against him) but the main issue is too fast mirroring with long duration and same amount of HP as boss have.. 🌟 The very first POE lootfilter
