ranger puncture/split arrow hardcore build help

So I'm using this https://github.com/EmmittJ/PoESkillTree to plan my puncture/split arrow hardcore build, and I was wondering, is it more worth to invest on physical damage or critical strike chance?

Which is better:
252% increased critical strike chance with bows
knocks back enemies if you get a critical strike with a bow
41% increased critical strike multiplier with a bow
90% increased critical strike chance
30% increased critical strike multiplier
98% increased physical damage with bows

or
30% increased critical strike chance with bows
20% increased critical strike chance
240% increased physical damage with bows

?

If it's better to invest on critical strike chance, how much should I have from the tree? I'm playing on hardcore so I'm also investing heavily on defense. Currently 250% increased maximum life from tree and +1433 life(considering level 100, no gear, just from tree)

Seriously, I did some research and it seems critical strike chance is more favored. I'd like to know why, it doesn't seem obvious to me. According to path of exile's gamepedia, a crit gives you just x1.5 damage. Now, according to gamepedia the most critical strike chance a bow can have at its base is 7.5%(a harbinger bow). Which is pretty low. I doubt that even with all the nodes and equip you can get much more than 50% crit chance. Isn't it better to have a consistent x3.4 damage?
