The Blood Thorn: Is it any good?

I just got a "The Blood Thorn" drop and I was just wondering whether it is any good. I am not very experienced in the game, but couldn't find anyone talking about this item pretty much anywhere, so I assume it is kinda bad?

Well, should be good enough for early levels.
Melee is very dependant on weapon damage so it can only carry you so far Besides that I guess its good for skin transfer? looks pretty nice. Oblivious

Kinda sucks, just vendor it off if you're not gonna level characters. But it's great in HC, so if you're in tempest you could give it away from free (unless you want to vendor it). I think Redbeak with Springleaf would be a better leveling option though, but it's not likely you will have a lot of those in new leagues, but on the otherhand, it's likely there will be quite a lot of that in old HC leagues.
