Dyadus

Hello fellow Exiles,
as the title indicates I'd like to discuss the unique item Dyadus. I found this earlier today and I realized that I havn't spent a thought on it since it's release in 1.0.0. I then tried to figure out a use for it and I came to the conclusion that the design is somewhat counter intuitive. Let's have a look at these mods: Adds (170–200 to 190–220) Fire Damage in Main Hand Enemies Chilled by you take 40% increased Burning Damage Adds (170–200 to 190–220) Cold Damage in Off Hand 100% increased Chill Duration on enemies when in Off Hand Now these mods indicate that Dyadus is ment to be dual wielded, right? You chill the enemies becuase of the cold damage added from your offhand. The next attack will most likely ignite the enemy and the 40% increased burning damage come into play. Throw in Elemental Proliferation and you're good to go. Wrong! But here's what simply doesn't make sense to me. (10 to 15)% increased Attack Speed Attacks per Second: (1.38 to 1.44) If you ignite a mob it will burn for 20% of the initial hit over 4 seconds. The burning debuff does not stack, but it overlaps. Qoute from the wiki: " Now consider the pretty damn low fire damage from Dyadus. We can assume that the initial hit will be mediocre at best (even with Anger and Increased Elemental Damage). We effectively gain 20% (24% considering the 40% Increased Burning Damage) of the initial damage as damage over time for four seconds. And this is pretty counter intuitive if you ask me. I really like to idea behind this unique but it should rather deal a good bunch of cold and fire damage and have less attack speed. Burning damage builds should hit hard and hit once to get the most out of the 4 seconds ignite duration (which can obviously be increased). What your opinion on Dyadus? |

" It uses a concept that sounds a lot better than it actually performs. It can be used for a few exotic builds but neither of those is especially strong, it could use a buff of some sort. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Good thought over there. However the same tragedy can be said for dozens of uniques in this game. There are plenty of uniques that come close to useful build enablers as long as we can alter or overcome one or two 'counterintuitive' designs. Examples are incandescent heart, veil of the night, death's oath and more.
I believe GGG is definitely clever enough to realize how some uniques can be made more useful with just slight tweaks. I believe that is actually intended on their side. They want to see if we can still somehow break the game. Even if we cannot, they would not interfere with the current state of things. |

I think it would be cool to mirror it and use one in each hand.
I'll take "Swords" for two hundred Alex.

" Why mirror, just use 2... |

" According to lore, I believe that Unique items are actually mirrored ancient rares. Unfortunately you can't Mirror a Mirrored item. Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/
