Levelling with templar 1.3

I would like to use a totem build, but till I get the right level and gems I don't really know what is the best way to levelling.
I now use Lightning tendrills, since is the better skill gem in terms of dps (freezing pulse is also good)
I just would like to know if there is a better choise and how to improve from now to 30s the build

I didn't play since 1.1 so I'm not used to the new skills, nerfs, buffs, etc

Until like half of a cruel you can go thru content with firetrap + light tendrills.

Just do main quests dropping fire traps on mob packs and elite's and dont stop for optional quests (you can always come back to them later).
