Passive skills: Critical Strike, Elemental Damage

Hi everybody!

I have a few quick questions regarding various passive skills, hopefully somebody will be able to help me out.

1. Elemental Damage:

There are various passive skills that for example say; 8% increased Elemental Damage.
So my question is, does this apply to both weapons and skills (like Firestorm)?

2. Critical Strike chance:

If I have passive skills (and/or items) that increase my critical strike chance to let's say 100%, does this mean I will obtain critical strikes 100% of the time, or are there other math and what not involved?

I'm aware that one is able to obtain passive skills that reduce the chance that monster are able to hit critical strikes on ones character, so that probably works the other way around as well.

3. Critical Strike Multiplier:

My question here is simple, what does critical strike multiplier do?
Does it perhaps multiply the amount of damage critical strikes do?

Here's a quick link to a passive skill tree that shows various passive skills that has to do with the questions at hand:

That's all I'm wondering about at the moment.
I'd like to thank in advance to anybody that are able to shed some light on this for me, I would surely appreciate it.

1. Yes, unless it exclusively says Weapon Elemental Damage.
2. No, the way crit chance works is, it increases your base rate (which depends on your weapon for normal attacks, and on spell for your spells) by that amount. So if you accumulate 300% crit chance throughout the tree, and your weapon critical chance is 7, you will have 21% critical chance when hitting with that weapon.
3. Yes, it increases the critical damage dealt, and it's additive. So if your skill has 150% critical multi and you take additional 40%, you will have 190% critical damage with that skill.
1. Both

2. Skills/Spells have all their own crit chance. If a skill has base 5% chance and you get passives that increase crit chance by 100%, you would have 10% chance to crit with that skill now.

3. Indeed it increases damage done by critical hits. Example, normal hit for 100 damage. You have total multiplier of 300% -> Crits do 300 damage.
First of all, thanks for the quick replies, much appreciated.

Okay I think I get it all now, though one more question about the multiplier part.

Let's say that I'm able to do 100 damage (regular/base) with a spell like for an example Firestorm.
Firestorm has a base critical strike chance of 5%, if I then have 0% critical strike multiplier, does that mean that hitting a critical strike will still only do 100 damage?

look at your character screen: you have a base crit multiplier :)

Oh I do? Ah, I'm such a silly goose, I wasn't aware of that.

Well then let me rephrase my question.

If I'm able to do 100 damage (regular/base) with the spell Firestorm, and I have 5% base critical strike multiplier, pluss let's say 100% increased critical strike multiplier from passive skills, giving me a total of 10% critical strike multiplier, does this mean that when I hit a critical strike I will do 100 damage pluss 10% resulting in a total of 110 damage?

I see, thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. And yeah the base critical strike multiplier being 150% is probably right, I was just throwing a number out there.

Again, thanks for the help!
