Feedback and Suggestions (Path of Exile 1) - Reset character names every new league - Forum

Currently there are so many character names in game it's impossible to ever get a cool name for your character that hasnt already been taken. Being able to name my characters in CB popular nouns made me realise how much Ive wanted to be able to do this since forever. I can understand the difficulty in being able to make this a reality on live, but how about this for a solution: Reset character names every league, and at the end of the league if the character name has already been taken on standard/hardcore give an automated mandatory name change. If no name change is selected, give them a default name like "Default123456" until the player chooses a new name... This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled. What happens when someone in a new league has the same name as someone in a temp league? Having a separate naming pool for temp leagues is a terrible idea. Your account is from 2012. Terrible idea or not the fact is original names are becoming very very scarce and a lot of filler characters are stopping people from being able to choose what their character is called. It's a problem that needs addressing. Wether I "reserved" enough names from 2012 isnt the issue here because this is a problem that affects everyone and the future of a game that has been out for a long time and has hopes of staying up for a lot longer... This would cause a freaking revolt! I'm not kidding. You should have been around Wildstar when the screwed up the naming reserve feature. It was like someone killed everyone's mother. Just implement a Name+RandomID system and bam, everyone can have the name they want regardless of other players. WoW and Guild Wars 2 does this and it's great!
