Elemental Damage Vs Fire/Lighting/Cold Damage

I was just wondering if elemental damage passive nodes do, in fact impact all elemental damage types and if they provide the same damage output to single elements as one specific elemental damage node would. For example, say I get a 24% increased fire damage node then I get a 24% increased elemental damage node; does the 24% increased elemental damage node impact my fire damage the same way the 24% fire damage node would? If this is the case wouldn't I always want to get elemental damage nodes since they also impact other damage types that may come from gear/weapons/auras, increasing my damage more than a single elemental damage node would?
Sure, if you have a choice between a 10% elemental and 10% fire damage node for same number of points taking elemental is a better choice. It will work on fire the same way as a fire damage node would, but also increase damage of other elements, if any.

What "Elemental Damage" nodes give in versatility, they lack in focus and raw power - although often each node offering only 1 or 2% difference. So, when you'd get 25% in elemental damage, you may get say 30 to 35% fire damage for example.
You'd have to make direct comparisons between the damage types of damage you can do. To take the above numbers for example: if you did 75 fire damage, and 25 other, with the fire nodes, you'd deal 101.25 fire damage +25 other damage = 126.25 damage - a marginal increase above the 125 damage if 100% of your damage was of at least 1 element.

So, 75% focus is the break off point of when those fire nodes are better than elemental nodes. If you are more focused, then you gain more benefit from fire. If you are more spread out, you gain more from elemental.
And you also tend to use penetration gems and elemental curse only in your main element, so yeah, in fact there are a lot of factors to consider.

This is pretty much what I thought, if I have a build that is focused entirely on fire damage then fire damage nodes would be more beneficial, since well more fire damage exists in my build lol but elemental damage gives versatility. I was mainly curious just because I wasn't sure if grabbing elemental damage nodes on my way to fire damage nodes (for my fire arrow build) would somehow be less efficient than focusing on just fire damage. I'm thinking I'll still grab up some of these nodes because damage, I like damage. Thank you all for the replies :)
