PoE does not install. Another version is already installed error
Hello.
Played PoE before without any issues, everything was quite ok. Deleted it, like, half a year ago, cuz got bored of it, and now decided to install it again. The problem is, that when I'm trying to launch the PathOfExileInstaller.msi, it says, that there is still a version of the game installed on my computer. Tried to remove it via control panel. It asks me to enter a path to the installation package PathOfExileInstaller.msi. Did as requested, but another message said "PathOfExileInstaller.msi is not a valid installation package for the product Path of Exile". I've got no idea how to fix that. Please, help me to resolve this issue. Thanks |

Hi there,
You might have some rogue entries in your Windows Registry that are fooling the installer, or potentially it could be that there are still some files in your "My Documents" folder that are getting in the way. Edit: I would not recommend digging around in the Registry unless you are confident with what you are doing. No longer works at GGG Last edited by MikeP_GGG#0000 on Mar 1, 2015, 3:13:20 PM

Nope, no PoE related files in the "Documents/My games" directory. And, unfortunatelly, I'm not familiar with Windows registry editors...
So... no any known solutions for that kind of problem? |

As Mike mentions it's likely due to PoE's leftover registry key. In which case follow these steps:
- Press the Windows Key + R. This will produce the Run prompt. - Input regedit.exe and hit OK - Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software - Locate the key labelled GrindingGearGames and delete it "The problem is there ARE secure netcodes" -- Pewzor

The problem is... there is no such key

In which case it's the package entry you'll have to delete. To do this:
- Launch the registry editor as described previously - Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products - Right-click the Products key and select Find and input Exile - A value named ProductName containing Path of Exile should've been found - Delete the containing key (it will be something like F2654A091A4D56B409D6142F63FC9620) "The problem is there ARE secure netcodes" -- Pewzor Last edited by Emjayen#1133 on Mar 1, 2015, 6:23:59 PM

Drumroll...
Hurrah! Everything now works just fine. Thanks a lot! Well, at least, I managed to install the game. But the dowload now stuck on "Checking resources". Let's see what happens next. Well... It seem to work okay. Thanks again :) Last edited by Heithwald#7433 on Mar 2, 2015, 10:52:21 AM

" Download this file into whichever folder you want Path of Exile INSTALLED into (so if you don't have a folder already, make one). Right-click the file after downloading and select "Run as Administrator". |
