Should I Buy a Pledge of Hands?

Hi, I have been using a freeze pulse build as a guideline to build my character for some time. The end-game weapon the build uses is a 6L Pledge of Hands. I don't have enough currency for a 6L right now, but I can afford a 5L.

I'm not entirely sure whether it's worth blowing 80% of my currency on though.

My weapons at the moment are as below




The sockets on these aren't majorly important but the combined spell damage adds up to be 184% and my current cast speed allows me to pull off 3.9 casts per second (with the use of both spell echo and faster casting).

Would a Pledge of Hands be an upgrade for my character and if so, would the amount it upgrades be worth 80% of my currency?

My curent DPS with 0 power charges is 4,807. (tool-tip)

If you already got a 6L chest I don't think it will be a huge upgrade over these two wands, especially if you don't need its mana bonus to run a high level arctic armor.

That's it (i sold my 6L cloak of defiance when i bought my 6L pledge).
It's an awesome Staff, but i'm not sure i would have spend 80% of my currencies for it.

If you're not EB, low life or CI, I would say a Pledge or Taryns would be very nice, especially because you could potentially wear a kaoms heart and get a LOT of HP in addition to very good damage and defensive mechanics.

Here's the thing about Pledge of Hands: you can get better damage with a wand and shield (or dual wand) combo. The reason to get a Pledge of Hands is for the extra mana. It helps you to run MoM/Cloak of Defiance and/or a high level Arctic Armour with minimal investment on the tree.

So, are you looking to buy Pledge for damage or because it enables your build? If your answer is the latter, Pledge is for you.

Actually, Pledge allows my CI Incinerate Witch to comfortably run a level 23 Arctic Armour while saving points on the tree, so Pledge even has a place in some CI caster builds.

I'm not too worried about my survivability right now as I seem to be doing okay. My opinion may change when I begin to run med-high level maps but for now I'm looking for a higher dps output.

I'd like to ideally 5L my freezing pulse but I don't want to sacrifice my curse on hit 5L on my body armour to do so

The only reason I'd like to 5L my freezing pulse is to increase my damage output. I feel 5k ish is kind of low.

You know, faster casting isn't really helping HoT in any significant way. You probably saw it on wiki before it got fixed, it can support it but it affects HoT the same way it affects an aura, you just turn it on faster.

Really? Cheers for this man.. this could allow me to change my CoH to a 4L and free up my 5L chest

Okay that's definitely helped a heap, +50% DPS without power charges! I appreciate the help :)
